QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Possesses a Master's Degree;
  • Holds New York State Teacher certification and/or certification in one or more of the K-12 academic areas and certification as a School District Administrator (SDA), School District Leader (SDL) or School Building Leader (SBL);
  • A minimum of 5 years experience within multiple areas of public education, including elementary or secondary school instruction and administration/supervision; principal and central office experience desired;
  • Demonstrates ability to interpret policy, procedures and data;
  • Possesses knowledge, experience and leadership ability in school administration, instructional strategies and assessment, curriculum development, professional development, data management, supervision and evaluation, and educational technology;
  • Possesses excellent communication, problem solving, and interpersonal skills;
  • Demonstrates successful experience working with teachers and administrators;
  • Demonstrates experience using technology as both a management and instructional tool;
  • Demonstrates a commitment to life-long learning.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Information and Data Management
  • Assumes responsibility of District Data Coordinator and Chief Information Officer
  • Collects, analyzes, and presents technical data; identifies potential problems and evaluates alternative solutions; prepares sound educational recommendations;
  • Prepares and provides for administrators and staff itemized data to assist in improving instruction;

  • Provides the Superintendent and the Board of Education an overview of the District School Report Card Data and other reports as requested;
  • Oversees information and data of Central Registration;
  • Manages student data District-wide, including NYS Student Information Repository system (SIRS); SED Dedicated Account System (SEDDAS); and Erie 1 BOCES Data Warehouse Levels 1 and 2;
  • Manages, in collaboration with appropriate directors/principals, completion of all state and federal verification reports and prepares them for the Superintendent for accurate and timely verification: BEDS, VADIR, Special Education Reports, NYS 3-8 testing, Secondary data and Regents testing, vocational credentials;

  • Monitors all student information data for accuracy and corrects all errors in preparation for monthly data transfers;
  • Responsible for oversight and all components of the District Student Management System;
  • Provides training to teachers and staff on utilization of Student Management System;
  • Ensures procedures and policies for student registration/enrollment are followed;
  • Oversees management of resident students attending non-public schools including registration and text book procurement;
  • Ensures that non-public students are enrolled in the District student management system;
  • District liaison between the District and the BOCES/WNYRIC

Assessment
  • Provides leadership, administrative direction and coordination in the development of a District-wide program of testing and evaluation, including Aimsweb, STAR, parallel assessments, final examinations, and required state assessments;
  • Develops and implements data collection to ensure compliance with data standards, maintenance of student and instructional records, and state and federal reporting requirements;
  • Provides routine status reports regarding the District's compliance to the Superintendent;
  • Procures NYS 3-8 assessment answers sheets through WNYRIC;
  • Supervises all aspects of the District's scanning of NYS 3-8 tests and secondary Regents examinations;
  • Responsible for the coordination of all District computer-based assessments;
  • Collaborates with the Special Education Administrators for the administration and scoring of the NYS Alternate Assessment (NYSAA)

Curriculum & Instruction
  • Provides leadership and administrative direction and coordination of the development of a coordinated district-wide program of testing and evaluation, including all NYS elementary and intermediate assessments and Regents exams;
  • Supports the development, modification, and evaluation of an instructional model that ensures the learning and support for teachers;
  • Supports principals in the development of goals and action planning for the teaching and learning program;
  • Involved in evaluating and selecting instructional technology;
  • Supports the implementation of curriculum aligned with state frameworks, student and teacher performance objectives, curriculum standards and proficiencies in all subject areas

Professional Development
  • Works with Assistant Superintendent to plan and budget for Professional Development;
  • Maintains District Professional Development calendar/scheduling;
  • Participates in the orientation program ( New Teacher Academy) ;
  • Support the coordination of the Mentor Program;
  • Evaluates and processes all staff requests for prior approval for graduate course work and workshops or conferences;
  • Monitors staff certifications through the NYS TEACH system;
  • Coordinates the documentation of required mentoring and professional development hours to maintain certification in the NYS TEACH system

Administration
  • Keeps the Superintendent informed and works cooperatively with all administrators in school and District-related matters;
  • Participates in the development and implementation for required District plans, including Professional Development Plan and APPR;
  • Participates as a member of the District Technology Committee;
  • Participates in the evaluation of teachers and support staff
