POSITION TITLE: Instrumental Music Teacher

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must have or be eligible for Virginia licensure.

  • Must be endorsed in Instrumental music.

  • Dual endorsement in English as a Second Language and/or Special Education, or in any other content area, is preferred but not required .


JOB DESCRIPTION:
This position is a1.0 FTE located at the Department of Teaching and Learning.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ability to work as part of a team.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with staff, parents, and community members.

  • Prepare students for in school, pyramid and outside performance opportunities.

  • Participate in pyramid festival yearly for feeder schools.

  • Provide effective communications between and among school staff, Arts Education Supervisor, students, parents and community.

  • Flexible, dependable, and highly organized.

  • Desire to work with diverse community of learners.

  • Work effectively with fine arts team as part of show time and theater productions.

  • Effectively maintain Instrumental music website.

  • Provide outreach opportunities to grow quality program.

  • Must be team oriented and able to work cohesively with others and meet timelines.

  • Must be organized with excellent written and oral communication skills.

  • Must provide a minimum of 2 school based performances.

  • Must attend county wide Arts Ed. professional development.

  • Stay current with arts related technology and best practices.


EXPERIENCE:

  • Teaching experience in the above mentioned areas

  • Knowledge of best instructional practices

  • Ability to integrate technology

  • Experience in educational and instructional leadership
