The Behavioral Specialist is to provide assistance to school leadership and academic staff regarding Beechnut's instruction strategy, student growth and development and learning environment. This position focuses on the importance of behavioral management and implementing the student handbook.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Assists in the implementation of the effective behavior improvement programs that will provide the Learning Community students with the appropriate behavior as outlined in the student code of conduct and maintain a safe and orderly learning environment.
• Support the Teacher in implementing and incentive based activities.
• Assists the Learning Community in addressing behavior development of students, while dealing effectively with student misbehavior including controlling violence and/or aggression and assist Teachers with required documentation of these behaviors.
• Assists in the supervision of all campus behavior components relating to Learning Community programs and initiatives that meet the appropriate alternative education standards.
• Assists in student logistics such as escorting students and overseeing students during class time, meals, rotation, etc. and maintaining safe corridors for students during school arrival and dismissal by occupying assigned posts.
• Assists in providing direction and leadership regarding safety and security by assisting in the student arrival and dismissal process at school entry and exit points and within the Learning Community as well as participating in proper student searches when necessary.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Education and experience equivalent to a bachelor's degree in education, criminal justice, social services or related field required Experience working in a school setting preferred.

OTHER JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Must understand that all children can learn. Must demonstrate positive and enthusiastic attitude towards internal and external customers. Must be flexible. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office preferred. Must be available to work during the summer months.
PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT/WORKING CONDITIONS:
Light lifting, walking, climbing stairs. Most programs are in school settings.
