Summary: The Credit Recovery/Testing Coordinator is the key coordinator who drives support for students in need of credit recovery and supports the Operations Manager with all aspects of state mandated testing and assessment programs for schools within the state. The Credit Recovery/Testing Coordinator will manage the credit recovery program as well as engage students and families to support dropout prevention.

  • Manages credit recovery curriculum to create individualized credit recovery courses for at-risk students and coordinates materials and services for credit recovery students and teacher of record;
  • Monitors student engagement/attendance for credit recovery students on their caseload and identifies barriers to school attendance or academic achievement by initiating recurring contact by phone with students and their families when students begin showing signs of failure/struggle as determined by grades, missed log-ins, course activity, and number of missing assignments;
  • Acts as an advocate for students and families and refers students on their caseload (and families), as applicable, to outside agencies or school level support services to ensure needs are met;
  • Attends and participates in school and K12 sponsored meetings and Professional Development Events related to student engagement or that are specific to the needs of staff that provide direct instruction or direct non-instructional services to credit recovery students;
  • Provides parents with opportunities to partner with the school and support student learning through engagement activities;
  • Provides materials and training on how parents can improve their child’s achievement;
  • Provides reasonable support for parental involvement as requested and ensure, to the extent possible, that information sent home is in a language and form parents can understand.
  • Manages all school and state mandated assessment programs including Scantron, ELL assessments, and AP Exams etc., including make-up testing;
  • Researches and secures facilities throughout the state for all in-person testing, maintaining communication to revisit needs prior to each administration, as needed;
  • Attends district, state, K12, and regional trainings and ensures knowledge transfer with appropriate personnel; Trains staff in appropriate District and State testing procedures (prior to each administration);
  • Develops staffing plans and works with Administration to onboard staff for testing;
  • Works with School Operations Manager to update and maintain the Testing Database; Maintains testing planning and tracking tools throughout the year; Tracks student accommodations for Special Education, 504, and general education students.

Supervisory Responsibilities: This position has no formal supervisory responsibilities.

  • Oversees processes for sorting, packing and shipping materials to sites; Regularly inventories and orders non-secure testing supplies for each administration;
  • Collaborates with the Special Education Manager on the implementation of state testing and the needs for alternate assessment testers.

Minimum Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree AND
  • Three (3) years classroom, guidance counseling, or leadership experience OR
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience

Desired Qualifications:
  • Master’s Degree in Education or Administration
  • Experience working with students and their families
  • Experience supporting adults and children in the use of technology
  • Familiarity with state testing
  • Current Ohio state teacher’s certificate
  • Experience teaching in the classroom and administering standardized tests
  • Experience with virtual/online education

  • This is a home-based position, but regular reporting to the office will be required as determined by Head of School.
