Job Description

Under direct supervision of the Senior Custodian, the Junior Custodian performs routine cleaning and maintenance tasks. Junior Custodians are responsible for the cleanliness of the school building and care of outside grounds. Daily responsibilities include:
  • Cleaning of all school-used interior and exterior spaces
  • Respond to student accidents, spills, and urgent needs
  • Manage lunchroom set up and clean-up for lunch periods and events as required
  • Maintain and update work order ticketing system daily
  • Set up, arrange, and remove furniture for special events


Qualifications

Skills
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Highly effective communication skills via phone, email, and in person
  • Must have valid driver's license
  • Experience using a work order system
  • Must be available 24/7 to handle school related emergencies.

Abilities
  • Ability to multitask, works collaboratively, and maintains focus in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to utilize various types of electronic and information systems used by the organization-cell phone, computer, email and job tracking system

Nice-to-Haves
  • Highly capable and comfortable using power tools and facility related equipment
  • In depth knowledge of building systems including HVAC, electrical, and plumbing
  • Previous custodial experience in a school or professional setting
  • Current Black Seal License
  • General carpentry and handyman skills
  • Experienced in construction practices including site safety, communication
  • Knowledge of asbestos containing materials handling and management
  • Knowledge of life safety systems, safety drills procedures and best practices
  • Experience developing and maintaining project plans
  • Proficiency in Spanish

Physical Requirements
  • The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands:
  • Ability to lift, bend, and pull more than 50 pounds
