Crafts Maintenance Manager

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Degree or equivalent combination of educational experience and Journeyman level trade competency, vocational training or licensure.
  2. Minimum of 10 years applicable work experience with 5 years of supervisory experience.
  3. Construction, business and/or administrative experience.
  4. Demonstrated ability to work well with various types of groups and individuals.
  5. Sound knowledge of building construction, facility maintenance and practices.
  6. Understanding of state and local building regulations and codes.
  7. Ability to plan, implement, manage and maintain construction projects and appropriate regulatory programs.
  8. Willingness to work extended and/or non-standard hours as needed.
  9. Have good verbal and written communication skills.
  10. Be able to work independently.
  11. Proficient computer skills with word processing, spreadsheet and database programs
  12. Maintain a current and valid driver's license.
  13. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the District may find appropriate and acceptable.

REPORTS TO: Director of Facilities Management

SUPERVISES: Facilities Management Crafts Personnel

JOB GOALS: The Crafts Maintenance works in a professional manner to assist the Director of Facilities Management to fulfill the District's objectives with respect to operations, maintenance and the safety of the District in order to enhance student learning, promote the overall efficiency of the school system, and maximize the educational opportunities available to each child.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Supervise and manage the daily activities and workload of District crafts personnel including; Carpenters, Locksmith, Cabinetmakers, Painters, Preventive Maintenance, Plumbers, Electricians, Mechanic and Heating Ventilating & Cooling technicians.
  2. Coordinate and manage District snow removal team with Grounds Manager and Director.
  3. Meet with building staff and/or public concerning projects and procedures.
  4. Participate in construction project plan reviews.
  5. Work with local municipalities and the state to meet zoning and code requirements.
  6. Assist with design, and supervision of small projects.
  7. Assist Director with recommendations, development and maintenance of department budgets.
  8. Assist in planning and manage District PPEL Life Cycle Programs to include, modular unit relocations, roof systems, building envelopes, flooring, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, ADA accessibility and locker replacement initiatives.
  9. Be willing and able to assist the various departments as needed.
  10. Perform work on a prompt and regular basis and maintain confidentiality.
  11. Participate in the facilities safety committee.
  12. Interview, hire and evaluate District crafts personnel and make recommendations for promotion or termination.
  13. Provide oversight of crafts personnel certification and training programs.
  14. Assist the Director to ensure compliance with all governmental regulatory agencies.
  15. Perform other duties and special job tasks as may be assigned by the Director of Facilities Management.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  1. Year-round position, salary and calendar year to be established by the Board of Education.
  2. Requires commitment of professional working hours in that "normal" work schedule may vary based on workload or specific project.
  3. Must have own transportation; monthly mileage stipend or mileage reimbursement provided.
