  • Oversee training of cross country runners in conjunction with the other coaches.
  • Develop training plans for cross country runners in conjunction with the other coaches.
  • Assist in overseeing the running of specific events as needed at home games as directed by head coach and Director of Athletics and Operations.
  • Contribute to game line-up planning with other coaches.
  • Attend and coach at all practices.
  • Attend and coach at all meets.
  • Assist other coaches in monitoring team members' practice attendance, school attendance, meet attendance and grades
  • Assist other coaches in enforcing team policies.
  • Responsible for providing kids feedback about their performance related to their disposition, behavior and team skills.
  • Successful completion of the required WIAA Rules Exam for cross country by the 2021 fall sports season.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Successful completion of an approved coach?s education course (ASEP) or the ability to complete the course prior to the second season of coaching if no teaching license.
  • Current certification or must obtain within one month of employment and maintain CPR/AED certification from a national certifying organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide positive development and motivation of student athletes.
  • Cross country background preferred with competitive experience at the High School Level.
  • Knowledge of running skills, development, and meet strategies.
  • Organizational skills relating to cross country.
  • Skill in planning progressive conditioning and developmental cross country program.
  • Ability to initiate and maintain communication with parents.
  • Commitment to year-round personal knowledge enhancement as a means for continuous program improvement
  • Ability to work cooperatively with other staff


Desired Qualifications:

Preferred: Valid teaching license
Preferred: College playing/coaching experience
Preferred: Demonstrated ability to successfully implement cross country systems in a high school setting

Length of Work:
WIAA 2021 Fall Sports Season

Working Conditions:
Will be expected to work in evenings and weekends. Will be also be expected to work in various outdoor weather conditions.

Physical Requirements:

The job will require you to stand for extended periods of time, while coaching at practices and games.
