THE OPPORTUNITY
The Custodian Role

LCPS has a full-time Custodian opening to support the learning environment for Lighthouse students. We are looking for an individual who demonstrates a commitment to Lighthouse's educational environment and a high level of integrity while attending to the duties of the role.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Custodial Duties:
  • Performs routine custodial maintenance of assigned facilities
    • Vacuums, and spot cleans carpets, floors, and furniture on assigned schedule
    • Removes trash in accordance with assigned schedule - ensuring proper recycling and composting
    • Assists in maintaining a clean and organized trash bin area in back of building
    • Cleans and disinfects bathrooms and classrooms on regular schedule and as assigned
    • Reports and responds to emergency calls for janitorial assistance from Supervisor
    • Responds to service requests, coordinates resources, and implements the set-up and take-down of furniture and equipment for a wide variety of campus and community events
    • Cleans outside yard area, blacktop, parking lot on a regular schedule
    • Cleans entrance and immediate school perimeter on a regular schedule
    • Cleans windows and door handles on regular schedule
    • Tidy up furniture throughout building to ensure items are properly in place
    • Identifies stains and uses proper chemicals for removal
    • Maintains inventory and submits requests for supplies
    • Works with other custodians using clear and respectful communication to conduct team duties
    • Checks in with supervisor on a daily basis for special assignments and/or feedback
    • Directs and greets students and families during morning drop-off
  • Keeps a punctual schedule and ensures timely opening of the facility
  • Keeps track of work email. Confirms/responds to work emails in a timely matter.
  • Performs various maintenance and custodial duties such as repair to or installation of fixtures, equipment, etc.
  • May occasionally be required to report to the building on weekends and non-school days for opening
  • Attend all staff professional development events
  • Adhere to the company's safety policies to create a safe work environment for everyone
  • Other duties as assigned by Supervisor

Maintenance Duties:
  • Responsible to undertake upkeep and repair tasks at the interior or exterior of campus. Such as:
    • Identify and report to the Operations Associate the need for major repairs
    • Repairing and replacing light fixtures
    • Assembling and repairing furniture
    • Communicating and connecting with outside contractors regarding electrical, plumbing or HVAC repairs
    • Troubleshooting various facility needs (i.e


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • At least two years of related experience
  • Attention to detail and a self starter
  • Basic knowledge of maintenance tools (i.e. power drill, plumbing, drywall materials, painting)
  • Ability to lift objects up to 25 pounds
  • Must complete requirements for school-based hiring:
    • Background Check
    • CPR/First Aid Certification
    • TB Test
    • Mandated Reporter Training


TIME COMMITMENT

Both openings are part-time, with time off during some of the LCPS' school calendar but may require to work during non-school operating hours (ie, winter break, spring break, ect.) Additionally, custodian will:
  • Work hours as assigned by Supervisor
  • One Saturday per month (overtime may apply) and occasionally during holiday breaks
