"RECESS!" Is a four-week pilot summer program for young people who will be entering grades 6, 7, or 8 in September of 2021. The program will operate from July 19 - August 13, 2021 and will be located at Hoyt Field in Cambridge, MA.
Role:
The RECESS! Youth Engagement Specialist(s) will monitor and participate in all daily summer enrichment & non competitive activities with rising 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students. In addition, the Programming Manager will work collaboratively with the Director and Programming Manager. This position reports to the Director.

Amount of Contract: Not to exceed $4,500
Payment Terms: $25 per hour

Role:

Responsibilities Include:
- Build and maintain culture of fun, inclusiveness and curiosity
- Build relationships with young people in the space
- Use expertise to create or extend programming based on space, interests of young people and materials
- Assist in daily build-up, breakdown and securing of infrastructure for securing of materials
- Assist in lunch distribution
- Ensure compliance with city/state/federal COVID safety protocols
- Understands the developmental needs of pre-teens entering grades 6, 7, and 8; Ability to relate to youth and adults in a positive manner; Enthusiasm; Adaptability; Team player; Sense of humor; Ability to accept supervision and guidance; Familiarity with Cambridge youth services preferred.
Job Requirements:
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Minimum 1 year of experience working with youth in a school, Out-of-School Time, or summer camp setting
- Associate's degree preferred but not required
- Commitment to equity in youth development
- Restorative Justice Practices experience
- Reliable and punctual
- Be First Aid and CPR trained prior to start of program
- Must successfully complete CORI process
