QUALIFICATIONS :
Elementary teaching experience; Connecticut elementary teaching certification, concentration in mathematics, training in Bridges Intervention highly desirable
Mathematics professional development experiences and/or interest preferred
Strong communication, organizational and leadership skills
Demonstrated excellence in teaching
Experience with data collection and analysis
Experience with I-ready diagnostic and STAR testing highly desirable
REPORTS TO: Building Principal(s) with input from district STEM Director and Assistant Superintendent for Instructional Services
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Improve student achievement in mathematics through direct instruction of students identified for Tier 2 and Tier 3 services.
Increase mathematical content knowledge of teachers and to incorporate effective mathematical teaching practices strategies into the classroom.
Promote standards of excellence in elementary mathematics instruction so that each child may experience extraordinary learning at the building level.
Acquaint teachers with successful and innovative strategies for classroom instruction through modeling and conferring, as the schedule allows.
Provide professional development opportunities for groups of teachers to broaden teachers' content knowledge of mathematics and effective teaching practices.
Work with small groups of students who will benefit from short-term intervention strategies/instruction ensuring their success in the classroom.
Review STAR and I-ready test scores and district data to improve math instruction system wide and school wide focusing on grade level proficiency, school trends, and gaps in achievement.
Use student performance data to work with the school STEM Coach to identify effective interventions to meet all students' needs.
Work with district personnel to implement strategies that increase student achievement and close the gaps among all student populations.
Provide, recommend, and design support materials to enhance math instruction and improve student achievement.
