Position : Instructional Aide (6 Hour/10 Month), OLA Program, Grades 1/2

Duties:
The Instructional Aide will work under the supervision of the classroom teacher to create a learning environment where each child feels valued and is progressing at an optimal rate. The Instructional Aide will help insure that each child becomes a successful learner and proficient in English and Portuguese.
In conjunction with the classroom teacher, the instructional aide will be expected to plan for and teach small and large groups; assist in developing units of study with the assistance of the teacher, keep track of student progress through assessment and record-keeping systems; and along with the classroom teacher occasionally participate in parent conferences. Other duties include conducting lunch and recess activities; accompanying children on field trips; duplicating materials; operating audio-visual equipment; assisting in the computer lab; managing the whole class while the teacher attends a meeting; and performing other tasks requested by the teacher.
Qualifications:
Associates degree, or 48 college credits. The ideal candidate will also have the behavioral management skills necessary for working with children in groups; knowledge of the Core Knowledge Curriculum; and the ability to be a member of an educational team. Proficiency in English and Portuguese required.
