Job Description: This is a part-time position (1 1/2 days at Primary School and 1 1/2 days at Middle School). This position manages the library collection and performs a variety of media center responsibilities that include maintaining the school's literacy collection and creating an environment that promotes reading. The librarian will be responsible for creating, planning and implementing appropriate lessons to meet social/emotional, cultural diversity, inclusivity, and cognitive needs of students in grades K - 8. The librarian will assist students in selecting appropriate reading materials. The librarian will also work with teachers to support them with literacy resources to meet their instructional objectives.

Responsibilities:

• Create a safe and accessible environment for students to learn and excel
• Promotes literacy within the school
• Facilitates the Rebecca Caudill program
• Screens, selects, orders, and circulates the library collection
• Catalogs and processes new books
• Repairs, covers, and binds damaged books
• Encourages students and staff to access the library and its resources
• Processes check-in and check-out of books, periodicals, and reference materials
• Maintains circulation records for library books, reference materials, and periodicals and tracks over-due and lost books
• Continuously evaluates the literacy media program and plans for future growth and development
• Maintains communication with parents via regular monthly newsletters and social media postings
• Ability to integrate technology into lessons

Desired Qualifications:

• Experience with instruction on information and technology literacy skills, including the research process
• Communication skills to proactively collaborate with students and teachers
• Understand student growth and development; possess knowledge of effective behavior management methods
• Ability to use the following programs: Destiny, MS Outlook, Google Docs, Google Classroom

Education & Experience:

• Bachelor's Degree or Master's Degree in Library Media or equivalent is strongly preferred
• Prior successful experience working in a library or school setting
