The South Central BOCES, Pueblo West, Colorado, seeks a highly qualified Executive Director. The Board wishes to have the successful candidate assume the responsibilities of the position January 1, 2022.

McPherson & Jacobson, L.L.C., Executive Recruitment and Development has been engaged as the consultant in a search for outstanding candidates. They will assist the Board of Education in identifying and screening the candidates.

Location: 115 miles south of Denver

The Qualifications

The candidate must have the background, skills, and abilities essential for excellence in educational leadership.  The board recognizes that selecting an executive director is one of the most important decisions it will make.  The board has identified the following desired characteristics:

  • Leadership – A person who has the knowledge of leadership and management principles as they relate to the field of education.  A leader with high moral and ethical standards.  A person who is flexible, and/or tolerant of a changing workplace.  A leader who can assess situations and make clear decisions. 
  • Communicator – A person who builds a positive work environment friendly to both the internal team and the stakeholders.  A leader who speaks, listens and writes in a clear, thorough and timely manner. 
  • Strategic – A leader who builds a culture of continuous improvement with a focus on teamwork, creativity, and innovation.  A person who understands the needs of both the internal and external stakeholders, rooted in the vision and values of the organization.  A leader who is data driven, collaborative, and makes recommendations to resolve problems.
  • Manager – A person who empowers and holds staff accountable and can lead the work in all federal and state legislation, employment standards, human rights, occupational health and safety, taxation, employment insurance, health coverage and other areas related to an education organization.  A leader who has a working knowledge of human resources, financial, project and grant management. 

Requirements:

  • minimum of a master’s degree
  • appropriate Colorado licensure

Salary: $100,000

Search Timeline:

  • Board of Education selects finalists to interview: August 11, 2021
  • Interviews with the Board of Education: August 25 & 26, 2021
  • Selection of new Executive Director: September 1, 2021
