About the Permian Basin 

The Permian Basin is a large region encompassing the majority of West Texas.  When you think of the Permian Basin, think of wide open spaces, oil country, Friday Night Lights, endless blue skies, and stunning sunsets.  IDEA Public Schools serves students and families in both Midland and Odessa, cities located about 15 miles from each other and situated almost exactly halfway between El Paso and Fort Worth. 

Our community is innovative, hard-working, and optimistic and is eager to collaborate to transform the education system for the next generation of children in the Permian.  We will serve over 10,000 students at scale by opening 14 schools across Midland and Odessa.

 

Role Mission: The goal of the Regional Math Coach is the improvement of instructional clarity, content and execution of a strong conceptual math approach, ensuring that school performance continually outpaces the rate of expansion of the district, through building the content and curricular capacities of regional principals and leaders. The Regional Math Coach will expand the knowledge, skills and toolkits of all campus leaders to ensure math classrooms are optimum to engage all students in the learning 

 

Accountabilities  

 
  • 90% Approaching | 60% Meets | 30% Mastered on Math STAAR/EOC 
  • Average student growth in Math meets or exceeds 1.5 years
  • 100% of business partners report being ‘satisfied' or ‘highly satisfied' with services
  • 100% of campuses achieve distinction in Math
  • Quality Professional Development for Leaders and Teachers: Implement school based and regional professional development   
  • Regularly analyze quantitative and qualitative data at academies and college preps across the region to identify instructional gaps in Math instruction and achievement.    
  • Design and partner with academic services team to provide timely professional development that increases the ability of teachers and leaders to meet ambitious academic goals in Math

Qualifications: 
  • Education: Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred 
  • Experience: At least 3 years of full time math teaching experience
  • Proven track record of achieving success in the K-12 setting
  • Experience coaching others preferred
