Primary Purpose:

Direct and manage the instructional programs and supervise operations and personnel at the campus level. Provide leadership to ensure high standards of instructional service. Oversee compliance with district policies, success of instructional programs, and operation of all campus activities.

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:
  • Master's degree Required
  • Texas Standard Principal, Mid-management or Professional Mid-Management Certification Required


Special Knowledge/Skills:
  • Demonstrates knowledge of school operations
  • Exhibits effective human relations and communication skills
  • Possesses skill in planning, organizing and facilitating instruction
  • Possesses sufficient mobility to supervise students in the hallways, classrooms, cafeteria and grounds
  • Ability to coordinate campus support operations


Experience:
  • Minimum of three years' experience supervising instructional program/s
  • Minimum of three years classroom teaching experience


Major Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Develop in partnership with the administrative team, faculty and staff, and all other key stakeholders of the school a set of principles that supports the mission of the school to foster high student academic success in an inviting, safe and orderly environment.
  • Provide and supervise in a fair and consistent manner an effective discipline system with high standards, consistent with the philosophy, values, and mission of the school and in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct, and state and federal laws and regulations.
  • Conduct a needs assessment to determine critical areas of need in the structure and culture of the school that must be addressed to realize the behavioral, affective and educational success of all students.
  • Direct all aspects of the school's instructional program, in collaboration with other school administrators and the school's staff, gathering and analyzing critical data as the basis for school improvement.
  • Evaluate teachers using the Texas Teacher Evaluation Support System (TTESS) following state and local timelines for evaluations.
  • Analyze all aspects of the school's organization, structure and culture in light of latest research on high school effectiveness, and recommend changes as needed.
  • Direct all aspects of the school's operations including management of human, physical and financial resources.
  • Ensure compliance of the Review 360 evaluation and scoring proficient in each measured area.
  • Ensure compliance with the current TEA Conservator requirements.
  • Maintain open lines of communication with staff, students, parents and various publics.
  • Develop parental involvement and expand opportunities for active partnership between school, parents and school personnel.
  • Comply with all Board policies, directives, district master agreements, state and federal laws.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

As assigned.

Other:
  • All campus administrators will be evaluated utilizing the Texas Principal Support Evaluation System (TPESS)
Working Conditions:
Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:

Maintain emotional control under stress. Work with frequent interruptions. Occasional district-wide travel; occasional prolonged and irregular hours; ability to access entire campus multiple times daily. Requires long hours of standing and walking. Work week may also include weekends.

Transportation:

Must have own reliable transportation available during work hours. Some out of town travel may be required.
