Rangely is a small rural community that is primarily driven by the Oil and Gas industry.  The High school program offers a comprehensive agriculture curriculum that focuses upon college readiness, career exploration and workforce development.  We are a 6-12 building with a population of just over 220 total students.  Our school operates within the community to educate a community of learners who can think critically, problem solve, and make a positive impact in any career of their choice.  We are looking for an instructor that will help to provide an engaging and rigorous curriculum to help our students be successful in society.

Job Requirements:

  • Applicant must possess, or have the ability to possess, a Colorado Teaching License and Agricultural Certificate.

About this position:

The teacher will conduct an instructional program according to the Board of Education requirements and state program approval.  The basic curriculum for each course shall be adhered to and:

  • Lesson plans and unit plans prepared according to district policy
  • Utilize effective instructional strategies and materials
  • Basic skills and abilities of students be developed in the lab classroom

FFA/Leadership Development:

FFA is an integral part of the instructional program.  The teacher will serve as the advisor for the local chapter of FFA.  Planning for and supporting students in local, district, regional, state, and national cooperative activities.

Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE) programs for all students:

To include, but not limited to

  • Assisting students in selecting a program that best fits their career interests and abilities
  • Maintain records and help students maintain needed records
  • Locate training for students in work-based learning experiences
  • Coordinate training experiences that meet instructional needs of students
  • Make supervisory visits during the school year and summer months
  • Supervise the lab classroom for students working in supervised agricultural experience programs

Record keeping and Reporting:

The teacher will prepare and submit FFA rosters, entries, registrations, etc. required by the local, district, regional, and state offices, promptly.  Keep an accurate file copy of all records.

Public and Professional Partnerships:

We ask that this person take an active role in public and professional partnerships by participating in civic, professional, agricultural, and other community organizations.  The teacher will work closely with the Agricultural Advisory Committee.

Off Campus supervision of students:

The teacher will supervise students at off-campus activities such as conventions, contests, workshops, fieldtrips, etc., associated with the agriculture program and the FFA.

Extended Contract Guidelines:

The teacher will design and submit a Summer Program of Agriculture, Food, and Natural Resources to be approved by school administration and the Agriculture Advisory Committee.  The teacher will work an extended contract of a length that will be determined between teacher and administration.  This will be based upon the needs of the students and the summer program requirements. 

Description of Current program:

The current program is designed with the following classes:  Jr. High introductory to agriculture classes, High School introductory to Ag, Animal Pathway, Plant Pathway, and Power and Mechanical pathway.
