The Opportunity
Provide high quality speech language services to students to support student success and meet individual student objectives and goals.
Role and Responsibilities:
  • Plans and delivers an effective and comprehensive speech language program.
  • Delivers direct speech/language services in compliance with established goals and objectives.
  • Utilize current evidence-based practices to assess and treat speech/language delays or disorders.
  • Assures that IEP mandates are fulfilled and document progress toward goals on the IEP.
  • Contributes to the IEP process by devising appropriate annual goals and short-term objectives that have an impact on attainment of educational goals.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of IEP's for those students identified as having a disability as a related service and as a member of an interdisciplinary team.
  • Engages students in activities that are interesting, meaningful and individualized to reflect each student's developmental level.
  • Screens and/or assesses students' speech/language skills and functional abilities.
  • Develops recommendations for other staff members on the successful implementation of communication strategies and assistive devices within the educational setting.
  • Collaborates with a variety of stakeholders to communicate information about services and progress towards goals in compliance with established guidelines
  • Maintains files and records as required and prepares reports or other written materials to document activities, provide written reference, and/or convey information
  • Comply with special education services within federal state/county procedural guidelines.
  • Provide evidence-based treatment, guided by data collection, response to treatment, and on-going analysis of speech/language skills.
  • Communicate and consult with students, parents, educators, administrators, and outside agency professionals.
  • Participates as a member of the Student Support Team.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in Speech Language Pathology
  • New York State certificate/license in Speech Language Pathology
  • Candidates must have excellent writing, interpersonal, and organizational skills, and the ability to work both independently, and on a team.
