Position Summary

This is a fulltime position that starts 8/30/2021.

The Student Success Coordinator assists the building principal in the daily functions that are necessary to provide a safe and positive environment for students and staff.

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Building Operations Assists with facilitation and coordination of Multi Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) for students academic and behavioral needs.
  • Assists the building principal in establishing a positive environment for achieving educational outcomes.
  • Assists in the development and implementation of operational guidelines in the areas of building organization, student conduct, community involvement.
  • Develops and manages a campus supervision plan and provides direction to campus supervision staff.
  • Organizes and directs cafeteria supervision during lunch periods.
  • Performs such other duties as may be assigned by the principal.
  • Student Relations and Responsibilities Establishes and maintains a positive school climate for students.
  • Coordinates, facilitates and implements disciplinary intervention steps, including Positive Behavior Intervention Supports (PBIS), student safety plans, behavior intervention and de escalation plans including Functional Behavioral Assessment (FBA), and process with staff, working closely with the principal.
  • Assists with the development and implementation of student attendance procedures, monitoring, student management and conduct policies.
  • Coordinates reporting and monitoring of student attendance.
  • Facilitates and implements attendance intervention steps, including but not limited to holding attendance conferences, making home visits, and documenting actions.
  • Educator Relations Leads the development of positive behavior supports systems and the development of intervention strategies.
  • Assists in implementing instructional strategies, including supporting the needs of diverse learners, delivery methods, assessment, and staff development techniques for improvement of instruction.
  • Supports teachers working with students that are exhibiting challenging behaviors.
  • Parent Relations Coordinates implementation of parent involvement as well as school sponsored events.
  • Acts in a supportive role with the principal in work with parents, teachers, and the community to promote the effective flow of communications and ensure positive relations with parents, business leaders and community members.
  • Listens and responds to parent concerns with sensitivity.
  • Conducts parent and student meetings and attends after-school activities.
The primary purpose of this position is the instruction and supervision of a diverse group of students keeping within the law, board policies, and administrative regulations. A primary focus is the establishment of a positive learning environment that promotes a high level of achievement for all students while considering the background and developmental level of the individual student. Instruction and supervision include student guidance, classroom management, and knowledge in subject areas taught and District and state standards. This is demonstrated by appropriate curriculum design, instructional practices, and student progress assessment.

General Elementary Essential Functions:
Meets the standards of Competent and Ethical Performance as outlined in Oregon Administrative Rules (OAR 584-020-000 to 584-020-0045). The following are examples of principle duties; however, any one position may not cover all duties listed and examples may not cover all duties an employee is expected to perform.
  1. Effectively works with and responds to people from diverse cultures or backgrounds.
  2. Cultivates and models a respectful working and learning environment.
  3. Utilizes effective, proactive behavioral management skills in all school settings.
  4. Uses current body of knowledge in cultural diversity issues in teaching and curriculum development to design and adapt individual/group academic and behavioral/social programs in all school settings
  5. Instructs students directly and guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals; establishes clear objectives for all instructional units, projects and lessons to communicate these goals and objectives to all students.
  6. Implements individual plans (IEP/504/TAG/etc.)
  7. Diagnoses the instructional needs of all students and prescribes appropriate learning activities for each student.
  8. Works effectively and collaboratively with diverse student, staff and community populations.
  9. Works collaboratively with other school personnel (e.g., Title I, regular education, school psychologist specialists, classified staff) in meeting the diverse social and academic needs of all students
  10. Works with team members to accomplish mutually agreed upon goals.
  11. Is responsive to feedback from colleagues and administrators and is able to apply feedback to improve skills and services to all students.
  12. Assists the administration in implementing all policies and/or rules governing student conduct, develops reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure, and maintains order in the classroom and school in a fair and just manner.
  13. Establishes and maintains open lines of communication with all students and parents/guardians concerning both the academic and behavioral progress of all assigned students.
  14. Strives to improve professional competence through an ongoing program of reading, workshops, seminars, conferences, classes, and other professional development activities.
  15. Utilizes computer and software programs as related to job responsibilities.
  16. Trains and acts as lead worker for Instructional Assistants
  17. Designs instruction, monitors and provides feedback for Instructional Assistants and be available for problem solving relating to classroom instruction.
  18. Maintains accurate, complete, and confidential records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulations.
  19. Follows district and school policies, procedures, rules, regulations, and guidelines, and the provisions of the contract and exercised professional judgment when acting in the absence of a covering guideline or policy.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• Experience differentiating practices for diverse populations.
• Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with diverse students, staff, and community populations.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Valid Oregon teacher's license with the appropriate endorsements.
    • Multiple Subjects Self-Contained or Elementary K-12 Endorsement required
  • ESOL endorsements preferred.
  • Evidence of multi-cultural experience and cultural competency.
  • Bilingual proficiency and/or multicultural experience strongly preferred.
