West Hartford Public Schools is seeking an experienced, highly motivated individual for a full-time Bookstore Manager position. The bookstore will provide vocational and community experiences for young adult students attending WHPS Post-Secondary Program. The goal of the program is to provide authentic and challenging vocational experiences for Post-Secondary students and eventually expand mastery opportunities for high school students as well as adult residents with work accommodation needs.
The Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing the operation of the bookstore by supervising staff and volunteers, facilitating sales of books, maintaining upkeep, and collaborating with WHPS programs.

Duties for this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Plan, organize and manage bookstore activities.Develop and implement the store's operating procedures.Prepare and manage annual bookstore budget.Manage and maintain the bookstore accounting records, including maintenance of stock and inventory, sales, and taxes, oversee the receipt and transfer of receivables.Prepare a variety of reports and correspondences.Coordinate volunteers, hiring, training, supervising, and evaluating personnel as needed.
Requirements for this position include the following:
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills.Positive attitude and ability to work within a team.Strong computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel and Access.Knowledge of bookstore retail operating principles.Bachelor's degree in business and appropriate bookstore experience. Significant related experience may substitute for education.
