POSITION SUMMARY
An elementary curriculum coordinator is responsible for providing instructional leadership across assigned subject areas in APS elementary grade levels (K-5). Position objectives include studying, evaluating, and implementing research-based curriculum and instruction; providing leadership in the development, articulation, and implementation of an instructional program; improving the instructional program by assisting with program evaluation; and assisting in the coordination of relevant staff development.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
• Supports the vision of the APS Office of Academics
• Serves as a resource person in curriculum and instruction across assigned subject areas
• Provides leadership to assure correlation between district curriculum and state/national standards
• Develops, coordinates, and monitors the academic programs in the subject area of responsibility and oversees updates of the curriculum and adoption of K-5 instructional materials
• Provides input for the Teaching and Learning budget
• Previews new instructional materials and arranges for piloting by teachers
• Studies and evaluates new instructional techniques for possible use by classroom teachers
• Assists in the evaluation of academic programs, grading and assessment, and their effect on student achievement
• Leads and coordinates staff development
• Assists with the implementation of curriculum and instructional materials
• Stays current on best practices through professional readings, seminars, workshops, and conventions
• Coordinates projects with other curriculum coordinators, program support staff, and administrators within the Teaching and Learning department
• Communicates and coordinates in partnership with community groups and organizations
• Works with building principals and teams to develop and implement the school improvement process (data analysis, goal setting, action plans, etc.)
• Assists with coordination of instructional support for new teachers
• Regularly monitors all student performance data in the subject area of responsibility
• Required to have prompt, regular attendance in-person or virtually and be available to work on-site, in-person during regular business hours, and as needed
• Performs other duties as assigned by an appropriate administrator or their representative
Requirements :
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION:
Master's degree in education, education leadership, or a related field required
CERTIFICATION/LICENSE:
Must possess Georgia Professional Standards Commission Certification at a level 5 or higher in Educational Leadership or Instructional/Curriculum Leadership, or ability to obtain within 12 months
WORK EXPERIENCE:
Successful teaching experience of at least five (5) years at level and in subject area of responsibility including experience in collaborating with other areas and levels
Successful experience in curriculum development and implementation at level and in subject area of responsibility
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Knowledge of academic standards, assessment, and alignment
Knowledge of educational and achievement needs for regular and special program students
Knowledge of and ability to align curriculum to Georgia Standards of Excellence
Ability to facilitate the implementation of curricular initiatives introduced at the school level
Critical thinking and analytical skills for in depth data analysis, problem solving, and curricular innovation and implementation
Demonstrated ability to work with diverse groups, and effectively communicate, both orally and in writing
Advanced proficiency with office technologies, including Microsoft Office suite, Google suite, and collaboration tools, such as Teams and Zoom
Outstanding organizational and planning abilities
Strong ability to work effectively with individuals and groups
Desire to serve as a team player

Salary Grade: 134
Salary Range: FY'21 APS Salary Schedule (All Positions)
