PURPOSE OF JOB:

Facilitate the efficient operation of the district's night school and summer school programs. Assist the director in development of all areas of the programs' budget. Monitor opportunities for students to be successful within and outside of the traditional learning environment by providing supports to students to help close gaps in their learning. Provide access to cutting edge learning and educational options that allow students to earn and recover credits in a variety of ways. Work with students to support their unique set of learning needs and ensure learning is achieved at the highest level. Coordinate and monitor afterschool childcare programming throughout the district.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Create and manage the KCPS night school.

Supervise and evaluate teachers and staff within the night school program.

Monitor policies/procedures for the extended learning programs.

Monitor students in the extended learning programs and night school.

Monitor case files and students within the extended learning programs.

Provide monthly reports to school administrators and central office.

Review student data, enrollment, and progress, through extended learning programs and ensure students receive special education services.

Monitor the effectiveness of the teachers in implementing adopted curriculum.

Work with teachers and school administrators to review the academic success or deficiencies of students within the night school and other extended learning programs.

Coordinate and monitor all aspects of summer school programing.

Provide reports and presentations to district and state officials as requested.

Coordinate and monitor all aspects of after school childcare programing throughout the district.

Meet with students/families enrolling to ascertain any needed supports.

Support students and teachers referred to ensure successful academic outcomes.

Work with school and district administrators to review the academic success or deficiencies of the students in the program.

Provide professional development to teachers and staff.

Coordinate/Maintain a productive daily schedule for the purpose of completing reports, instructional activities and other duties.

Track outcomes for sharing knowledge and skills for delivering best practices.

Participate in a variety of meetings, committees, workshops and trainings as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of academic support and student success.

Ability to work mid-day and evening hours.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Yes

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Master's Degree in Education, any K-12 certification, secondary preferred

Missouri Principals Certificate or ability to obtain

5 years experience working with at-promise youth

Experience working with student discipline, special education, behavior intervention

Excellent communication skills and the ability to build rapport with students, school staff, families, community and other stakeholders

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 12 months

Length of work year: July 1, 2021-June 30, 2023 (Temporary Grant Funded Position)
