  • POSITION: High School Play Director - Head

    LENGTH: 2021-2022 School Year

    SALARY: Per the negotiated agreement

    REQUIREMENTS: Professional Educator License (PEL) as required by the State of IL

    DESCRIPTION:H-F puts on an annual play in May that entertains audiences for three days.
    • Submit a copy of the script to the principal for approval for the next school year prior to the April scheduling meetings and before purchasing production rights.
    • Have a production personnel/budget meeting with the activities director prior to the pre-production meeting and before verbally offering a monetary amount for contractual specialist services.
    • Coordinate with the technical director regarding the set design, properties, and costumes before any items are purchased.
    • Secure contractual specialists, processing them through the activities director, notifying them of the pre-production and post-production meetings, and providing scripts.
    • Manage all production paperwork and production specific needs
    • Hold auditions, post the cast list, have students accept/decline their roles, make casting adjustments, post the final cast list, and hold a cast production meeting
    • Develop, distribute, and post a rehearsal schedule to the cast and the activities director
    • Supervise actors during and after rehearsals/performances
    • Clean up the facility after each meeting, rehearsal, and performance
    • Secure the facilities after each meeting, rehearsal, and performance so no student has access
    • Store all costumes and properties in the loft after the production closes
    • Secure contractual specialist for post-production meeting (timesheets and itemized receipts)
    • Submit a cast list/program to the Thespian sponsor to verify hours for cast and crew
