Qualifications
  • Master's or Doctoral degree in ABA, Psychology, or Special Education
  • Board Certified Behavior Analyst or Board Certified Behavior Analyst-Doctoral
  • Maryland state licensed Behavior Analyst
  • Three years' experience providing behavior services (e.g., functional assessment, development and implementation of function-based Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP), treatment evaluation, crisis intervention) to students with Autism Spectrum Disorder and other related disorders
  • Advanced understanding of behavioral principles and function-based treatment
  • Experience working with a multidisciplinary team
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively train and supervise program staff
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to perform several tasks simultaneously
  • Flexibility with regard to daily routine and responsibilities
  • Adherence to a high level of professional and ethical standards
  • Computer skills related to common office tasks such as email, conducting internet searches, and using MSOffice (e.g., MSWord, Excel, PowerPoint)

Responsibilities

Behavior Intervention Programming
  • Conduct functional assessment in order to develop function based Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP) using ABA based interventions for skill replacement
  • Train and supervise classrooms staff on implementation and evaluation of BIPs and fading plans (as appropriate)
  • Supervise classroom and division's behavior management systems (as appropriate)
  • Provide direct support and consultation to classroom teams on behavior reduction, problem solving, crisis management, and skill acquisition as part of a BIP
  • Prepare documents/reports related to behavior programming as needed (e.g., current levels of performance for the Individual Education Program, goals and objectives, progress reports, behavior intervention plans, 1:1 justification, fading plan)
  • Monitor and supervise use and documentation of seclusion, restraint, or exclusion in compliance with best practice procedures, Maryland law (COMAR), and Ivymount School's Positive Behavior Policy

Staff Training and Professional Development
  • Conduct initial and on-going staff training as assigned
  • Conduct observations and provide on-going feedback to classroom staff
  • Collaborate with Program Director to provide professional development to teachers and assist with ongoing training
  • Provide supervision to BCBA candidates as assigned
  • Assess and identify areas of training need and develop appropriate training

Educational Programming (as assigned based on position)
  • Supervise development of and monitor classroom schedules and activities
  • Supervise teacher in curriculum/educational programming development and planning
  • Globally monitor student curriculum considering current age/grade and preparation for future (e.g., moving from Middle School to High School, graduation, moving to a less restrictive environment)
  • Supervise implementation of curriculum/educational programming, including instructional practices and progress monitoring procedures
  • Support teacher in conducting skills assessment
  • Supervise teacher in development, implementation, and evaluation of Individual Education Programs, progress reports, and other educational procedures

Classroom Management (as assigned based on position)
  • Oversee and support daily operations of assigned classrooms
  • Supervise and support classroom teachers and team related to program expectations
  • Assist in the oversight and review of assessments mandated by local education agencies
  • Facilitate communication between classroom staff and related services providers, as well as other curriculum support personnel (e.g., Reading Specialist, Art Teacher, Vocational Specialist, Transition Specialist)
  • Assist in maintaining and communicating Ivymount School policies and procedures
  • Facilitate collaboration and communication between school and parent/guardian
  • Provide parent training (as appropriate)

Ivymount School and Programs provides school- and community-based services for children and young adults with special needs from throughout the Washington metropolitan area. The school program serves more than 200 students, ages 4 – 21, with speech and language impairments, learning disabilities, intellectual disabilities, health impairments, and Autism Spectrum Disorders. The classrooms are structured to serve students with a range of academic and cognitive abilities, including, in some cases, those who have the potential to obtain a high school diploma. Ivymount Outreach Programs serve students, teachers, and parents to support children with learning and developmental challenges in the community through assessments, evaluations, therapies and professional development. The Maddux School is preschool-2nd grade program that combines creative approaches with traditional early childhood education in a unique transdisciplinary model. The goal in all of the programs is to help children and young adults achieve their highest level of development and independence and to live with dignity and self-respect. Ivymount School has been twice recognized as a Blue Ribbon School of Excellence by the U.S. Department of Education. Founded in 1961, Ivymount is celebrating its 60th year!
