  • Job Description: Middle School Teacher Language Arts Teacher
    Primary Function:
    The classroom teacher is responsible for helping students learn subject matter and skills that will contribute to their development as mature, responsible adults. The classroom teacher: creates and delivers engaging lessons to diverse groups of students at all levels; promotes enthusiasm for learning and for subjects; adheres to curriculum standards; and collects and reports on correct and detailed records of student performance.
    Key Relationships:
    The classroom teacher reports to the principal and is supervised by the principal. Other key relationships include the grade level team leader, and other middle school team members.
    Qualifications and Requirements:
    • A Bachelor's Degree / Master's Degree is preferred
    • A valid and current Professional Educators License (PEL)
    • Language Arts Endorsement
    • Ability to plan and teach appropriate grade level curriculum
    • Ability to establish collaborative relationships with co-teacher or grade level teaching staff
    Personal and Professional Qualities:
    The classroom teacher must possess the ability to work tactfully and effectively with students, teachers, administrators, and parents.
    He/she must display evidence of an educational philosophy in agreement with that of the School of Ss. Faith, Hope and Charity.
    He/she must display an ability to communicate effectively with students, teachers, and parents.

    • Manages the classroom in a positive manner, respecting the dignity of all

    • Respects the integrity of fellow staff, students and parents by being discreet and tactful when discussing student and school-related issues
    • Demonstrates flexibility and models collegiality

    • Demonstrates evidence of prior planning and preparation
    • Creates lesson plans with clear student-centered objectives, incorporating the principles of backward design, as well as the use of formative and summative assessments
    • Uses instructional time efficiently
    • Evaluates student progress effectively
    • Utilizes correct and appropriate written and oral communication in conversations, reports and meetings
    • Is punctual and effective in duties as assigned
    • Willingly uses and integrates technology into the classroom
