Standard Curriculum Writing: 
Under the general direction of the Executive Director of English Language Arts and the K-12 Gifted and Talented Coordinator, writers will work with central office staff to develop instructional pathways and model instructional units for the courses listed above within the scope and sequence of the core curriculum roadmap. Specifically, adding research to the instructional units for CAS and adding benchmarks for the CAS long-term project. Curriculum writers will receive professional development and guidance as they develop instructional practices and model units of instruction aligned to the core curriculum roadmaps, content, performance expectations, 21st Century Skills, and the PA State Standards curriculum.

Writers will be responsible for writing curriculum as well as making revisions based on feedback before and after implementation. Curriculum writing may occur throughout the summer months through August 6, 2021. Writers will have to adhere to strict deadlines as set forth by the curriculum supervisor.

Reports To : Executive Director of English Language Arts

Salary :
Teachers will rewrite one unit as a research unit (one per 9th and 10th grade CAS English) at workshop rate of $23.32 per hour, with set hours per unit based on the scope of work needed for the unit. The work shall not exceed 53 hours per writer.

Qualifications :
PA teaching certification in content area related to position for which you are applying.?

Candidates must be able to demonstrate evidence of effective teaching in the content area in which the applicant seeks to write;
- CAS curriculum writers must have experience teaching CAS level courses in the content area, currently be a high school (9-12/6-12) level ELA academic coach, or currently teaching a research methods course.

- Candidates must have experience at the grade level/content area they have applied to write for. Previous experience writing curriculum is preferred.?

- Candidate should possess in-depth knowledge of effective instructional practices and assessment.

- Must have experience participating in or leading professional development sessions focused on reflection of instructional practice and improvement of practice.

- Must possess excellent written and interpersonal skills and the ability to work within demanding timelines and produce quality products.

- Candidate must be proficient with technology including Microsoft Office applications.

Essential Job Functions :
1. Participate in up to 3-6 hours of professional development in curriculum writing best practices, PA Standards, and curriculum development in assigned content area.?
2. Collaborate with district staff to ensure the development of high-quality curriculum documents, including curriculum revisions.?
3. Take the lead to write, evaluate, revise, edit and submit curriculum documents according to a timeline established by the district.?
4. Collaboratively plan and co-deliver professional development related to the new curriculum to?teachers, coaches and administrators during district mandated training sessions, district in-service days, evening workshops and Saturday seminars.
