    JOB GOAL:

    University Heights Charter School is seeking a Director of Human Resources to ensure planning, organization and execution of all human resources functions for certified and non-certified staff. The Director of Human Resources is responsible for the development, organization and direction of the Human Resources department. The Director of Human Resources is responsible for staffing/recruiting/orientation, compensation and benefits administration, employee relations, discussions/negotiations, grievance processing and training in areas related to personnel issues. The Director of Human Resources is also responsible for reduction in force/reorganization/terminations, unemployment compensation, and compliance with all Human Resource Board Policies and Procedures. This position will coordinate implementation of services, policies and programs through a human resources staff, and assists and advises internal department directors about human resource issues.

    QUALIFICATIONS:
    • Master's degree in Human Resources, Labor Relations, Law or closely related field preferred.
    • Extensive (minimum of 5 years) relevant work experience preferred.
    • Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively with diverse groups.
    • Ability to work within tight time constraints and under stressful conditions.
    • Knowledge of administrative policies and practices.
    • Knowledge of developments and trends in human capital management.
    • Previous experience working in Public Sector Human Resources is highly desirable.

    REPORTS TO: CEO

    SUPERVISES: Human Resources Generalist

    PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

    1. Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leaves; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.

    2. Manage all internal and external HR related matters.

    3. Reviews, tracks, and documents compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments. This may include safety training, anti-harassment training, professional licensure, and aptitude exams and certifications.

    4. Verifies and maintains I-9 documentation. Ensures compliance with USCIS Form I-9 Employment Eligibility Verification; periodically audits I-9 forms.

    5. Recruits, interviews, and facilitates the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions; collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.

    6. Manage the recruitment process by identifying candidates, conducting reference checks and issuing employment contracts.

    7. Investigate complaints brought forward by employees.

    8. Manage new hire onboarding process, orientations and updates records of new staff.

    9. Manage the organization's employee database and prepare reports.

    10. Conducts or acquires background checks and employee eligibility verifications.

    11. Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.

    12. Attends and participates in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.

    13. Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance; assists in audits.

    14. Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.

    15. Attend board meetings as requested.

    TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 12 month position

    EVALUATIONS: The Director of Human Resources will be evaluated by the CEO.
