About the position:

We seek a Social Worker for the school year with a Middle School focus. Candidates for this position do NOT need to speak Hebrew. We offer clinical supervision for LMSWs and MHCs who are looking to accumulate clinical hours for licenses.

Job Requirements:
  • Lead the school's efforts in ensuring that students are emotionally supported through strength based, solution focused modalities
  • Contribute as needed to the development and implementation of the school's social emotional learning program
  • Provide individual and group counseling to address academic, personal, and/or interpersonal challenges, for mandated students as per Individualized Education Plan (IEP) and for non-mandated students as needed.
  • Work collaboratively with Principals, Administration, Special Education Team, Teachers, Staff and outside providers to help develop solutions to student, group, and school-wide issues
  • Coordinate services with external providers and link families to appropriate community resources as needed
  • Create programs for students and families to promote emotional and mental health
  • Response to day-to-day issues, crisis intervention, referrals, and case management services to student and families
  • Conduct home and community visits as needed to assess student and family needs
  • Coordinate services with outside providers
  • Offer resources available to families that promotes students' academic, social, and emotional functioning
  • Complete documentation, progress notes and reports as required by state, local and federal mandates and ethical responsibilities
  • Ability to plan, organize, and implement meetings/workshops involving a variety of topics and personnel
  • Follow up on student attendance
  • Serve as liaison on child welfare issues and share expertise with school team
  • Attend regular staff meetings and professional development workshops
  • Provide workshops to school staff and parents on variety of areas relating to child social/emotional development
  • Participate in grade level and school-wide events
  • Is highly visible and present during school day
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements:
  • LMSW from an accredited institution is required, LCSW preferred
  • NYS certification required
  • At least 3 years of experience in a clinical setting
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Experience in an urban school setting in which the students were selected by lottery and not by entrance exam or by discretionary criteria is preferred
