The Policy and Board Services Coordinator is responsible for working closely with the members of the PPSD School Board to assist the district in preparing the school board's agenda for all meetings; ensuring accurate and timely documentation to meet the open meetings and public records responsibilities of the Board; assisting district and board leadership in researching, writing, and supporting the implementation of new policies; and for providing other administrative support to the Board, as required, including work of a confidential nature.

Roles & Responsibilities
  • Works with the Board President, Board leadership, Superintendent and senior district staff to facilitate coordination of School Board, committee, and sub-committee meetings.Coordinate with district staff in assisting the School Board in drafting Board motions and policies.Works closely with senior district staff to ensure Policy and Procedures Manual is kept up to date with Board-approved policies and regulations additions, deletions and amendments.Ensures the Board Services Assistant appropriately prepares the minutes of all School Board and committee meetings, and ensure the posting and timely submission of all board agendas and minutes.Ensures effective meeting preparation for all Board meetings, including room setup, documents, and technology, and operating agenda platform during live sessions.Assist in gathering information for Board members and district leadership on a wide variety of topics; prepare written reports as requested.Prepares Board citations and recognition awards.Exercise sound judgment using the highest standards of confidentiality while performing all duties of the job.Serve as primary point of contact for board information requests from the Superintendent, and other District leadership.Establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of District staff, other government agencies, the public, and constituents.Maintains confidential Board communications and records.Sends email correspondence to and on behalf of the School Board; handles scheduling for Board leadership, and assists with clerical duties for office.Manages School Board internship program and intern projects.Provides confidential administrative support to the School Board.Uses problem-solving and critical thinking skills to address issues and ensure exemplary standards are met as related to the work of the School Board.Other duties as assigned.
Salary Rate Range

$56,803 - $67,467

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited educational institution with a major in public administration, political science, business administration, or a closely related field.At least three years of progressively more responsible experience in policy analysis.


Minimum Qualifications
  • Experience in policy writing and analysis.Experience working for public bodies, preferably in local government or K-12 setting.Experience working for elected and/or appointed public officials, preferably in local government or K12 educational setting.Ability to maintain high level of discretion and confidentiality.Demonstrated ability to be highly detail-oriented.Effective and professional communication and interpersonal skills.Ability to work a flexible schedule, as required, to attend evening School Board meetings.Organizational, written and verbal communications, and research skills.Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, internet research, Google Drive, and other web-based platforms.Providence Public Schools is committed to providing equal opportunities.
