Reporting to the Controller, the Staff Accountant Level 1 will provide entry-level administrative and financial support services. This position works closely with other accounting professionals, internal departments and external parties.

SUPERVISOR: Controller

FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Record financial transactions in system of record, currently Quickbooks Enterprise
  • Reconcile balance sheet and other general ledger accounts, monthly, as assigned
  • Prepare and record general and adjusting journal entries, as needed
  • Record and maintain fixed asset and depreciation schedule
  • Perform regular physical audit of fixed asset and IT inventories and resolve any issues
  • Conversion of historical and current paper documents into electronic documents
  • Serve as shipping, delivery, and receiving manager for the organization
    • Maintain equipment, supplies, and operations for shipping, delivery, and receiving of USPS mail and packages to and from various vendors.
    • Become organizational specialist for USPS regulations and other shipping company operations so as to develop best practices for shipping and receiving
  • Assist Purchasing & AP Manager, Billing & Accounts Manager, and Payroll & Tuition Manager, as needed and act as back-up for critical functions of each position.
  • Additional duties as assigned


**May be required to drive students on field trips and/or to mainstreaming classes. Additional driving responsibilities as needed.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in ASL preferred
  • Bachelor degree in business administration, accounting, or finance preferred; Associate degree with 2 years experience in relevant field is acceptable
  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
  • Strong analytical problem solving aptitude with creative solutions, ability to organize work with large amounts of information efficiently, manage multiple projects and deadlines with strong attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in MS Word, MS Excel, GMail, Google apps, and QB Enterprise Desktop
  • Open to development of skills and knowledge
  • Willingness to be flexible and adapt to change
