Position: Dean of Academics
Department/Campus: Campus

FLSA Status: Exempt Role/ Salary Band: Band 4
Job Type : Full Time
Work Hours / Days: Normal School hours / 215 days
JOB GOAL
Responsible for assisting the principal to provide the instructional and administrative leadership necessary for addressing student achievement and overall school effectiveness.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university
• Minimum 2 years of teaching experience in PK- 12 setting
• Master's Degree (preferred)
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Understands and supports the mission, vision and val ues of Harmony Public Schools.
• Obtains Danielson certification within 3 months of the first day in the assignment
• Serves as the member of the Instructional Leadership Team (ILT) at the assigned school in implementing instructional practices that include: - Leading and facilitating a learning culture among teachers and staff - Leading and fa cilitating campus wide data meetings - Observing and overseeing team data meetings - Conducting annual formal teacher observations and walkthroughs - Using observation- feedback cycles to provide ongoing coaching to teachers - Planning and co- facilitating campus pr ofessional learning (PL) meetings - Planning with PLC leaders - Modeling implementation of key Arc of the Year instructional techniques - Creating and implementing campus improvement plan (CIP) - Supporting teachers in microcredential progress - Providing periodic feedback to district and network leadership teams about instructional programs - Creating and collecting implementation artifacts for bright spots
• Assists with development and implementation of the master schedule and student schedules.
• Ov ersees curricular and assessment activities for special programs including SPED, Dyslexia, Section 504, ESL, and GT
• Oversees the work of instructional support staff and conducts their performance appraisals
• Implements and reviews data related to common ass essments such as district assessments and NWEA MAP
• Oversees academic intervention programs campus- wide, supports teachers with intervention strategies, and periodically monitors intervention data with teacher follow- ups
• Remains abreast of current curriculum trends, instructional strategies, practices, developments, instructional materials and related governmental procedures and guidelines.
• Coordinates with district person nel, parents and staff planning for an orderly opening of school.
• Develops and implements teacher orientations.
• Plans, coordinates and follows up school academic teams/competitions.
• Implements/oversees T- STEM blueprint implementation.
• Follows up lesson pla ns, curriculum/scope and sequence
• Oversees PBLs and other projects.
• Coordinates implementation of instructional software programs and goal- setting process for teachers and students
• Works collaboratively with parents, school, and community committees on al l school related matters.
• Assists in recruiting, selecting, and retaining highly effective teachers and staff
• Attends meetings, conferences, and workshops.
• Models personal commitment to developing self and others
• Displays the highest ethical and profession al behavior and standards when working with students, parents and school personnel.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
• Thorough knowledge of curriculum, assessments, instructional practices, district policies and procedures
• Ability to receive, internalize, and implement feedback from multiple sources Job Descriptions - Human Resources Department
• Ability to communicate effectively in both written and oral forms with all levels of management, both internal and external to the district.
• Ability to establish and maintain eff ective working relationships both internal and external to the district.
• Ability to use computer including software, database used by the district, spreadsheet and word processing software, calculator, copy machine and telephone.
• Ability to analyze data an d generate reports.
• Ability to use effective interview techniques, effective public speaking skills, and problem- solving skills
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Light Work: may require occasional light lifting.
• Nights and weekend activities wil l be occasionally required.
• Position is in office setting and may involve prolonged work at a desk in one location.
• Moderate travel is required.
