Description

Summary: Under the supervision of Program Coordinator, responsible for implementing Behavior Intervention Plans/crisis management procedures, providing 1:1 ABA Assistant coverage, conducting functional assessments, assessing treatment integrity, and training 1:1 ABA Assistants to implement Behavior Intervention Plans.

Responsibilities
  • Implement all student Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP) and Individualized Education Programs (IEP)
  • Support Homeroom Associate Teacher and Program Coordinator in monitoring of classroom schedules, activities, Behavior Intervention Plans
  • Support Program Coordinator in conducting functional assessment, developing, implementing and evaluating BIPs, skill acquisition programs, fading plans, and overseeing classroom management systems/universal supports
  • Conduct initial and ongoing staff training (e.g., treatment integrity, interobserver agreement, evidence-based instructional and behavioral practices) of Behavior Intervention Plans
  • Monitor use and documentation of seclusion, restraint, or exclusion in compliance with best practice procedures, all laws and regulations, and Ivymount School's Positive Behavior Policy
  • Hold confidential all knowledge of students and their families
  • Participate in all relevant meetings regarding assigned students (e.g., staffing, monthly program director meetings), weekly supervision, and school/department meetings

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in education, special education, psychology, or related field
  • Experience with educational and applied behavior analytic programming in the school
  • Understanding of Autism Spectrum Disorder and other related disorders
  • Ability to coordinate and participate in a team setting
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent multi-tasking and problem solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively train program staff
  • Adherence to a high level of professional and ethical standards
  • Flexibility with regard to daily routine and responsibilities
  • Support of program philosophy
  • Computer skills related to common office tasks such as email, conducting internet searches, and using MSOffice (e.g., MSWord, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Knowledge of evidence-based behavioral and instructional strategies, including applied behavior analysis preferred
  • School based experience (preschool through adult) preferred
  • Experience teaching daily living skills (e.g., social skills) preferred
  • Knowledge of and experience with assistive technology preferred

The school program serves more than 200 students, ages 4 – 21, with speech and language impairments, learning disabilities, intellectual disabilities, health impairments, and Autism Spectrum Disorders. The classrooms are structured to serve students with a range of academic and cognitive abilities, including, in some cases, those who have the potential to obtain a high school diploma. Ivymount Outreach Programs serve students, teachers, and parents to support children with learning and developmental challenges in the community through assessments, evaluations, therapies and professional development. The Maddux School is preschool-2nd grade program that combines creative approaches with traditional early childhood education in a unique transdisciplinary model. The goal in all of the programs is to help children and young adults achieve their highest level of development and independence and to live with dignity and self-respect.
