Description

Summary: Responsible for providing occupational therapy assessment, treatment, and documentation according to each student's Individual Education Plan; as well as providing ongoing education and collaboration to classroom teams on the participation challenges of each student and the classroom and/or community environments.

Responsibilities
  • Perform job duties in a manner that maintains the safety of students and staff
  • Deliver services in accordance with the IEP and as outlined by IDEA and COMAR regulations
  • Develop treatment plans reflective of evidence-based practices
  • Administer assessments for programming and IEP development
  • Complete appropriate documentation in timely manner
  • Attend weekly staffing/IEP team meetings
  • Develop and implement IEP's with data based decision making
  • Hold confidential all knowledge of students and their families
  • Assistance with and/or implementation of daily hygiene and toileting programs for students if necessary

Qualifications
  • Licensed by Maryland State Board of Occupational Therapy Practice
  • Board Certification as an Occupational Therapist
  • Knowledge of current trends in delivery of school-based occupation therapy services focused on participation
  • Strong organizational skills and time management
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to effectively work as a collaborative team member
  • Strong computer skills related to common office tasks such as email, conducting internet searches, using MSOffice (e.g., MSWord, Excel, PowerPoint), and virtual instruction
  • Experience working in a school-based setting preferred
  • Experience working with individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder and/or related disorders preferred
  • Knowledge of and experience with assistive technology preferred
  • Knowledge of Applied Behavior Analysis preferred
  • Experience providing services via telehealth preferred
  • Experience with Microsoft Teams preferred

Ivymount School and Programs provides school- and community-based services for children and young adults with special needs from throughout the Washington metropolitan area. The school program serves more than 200 students, ages 4 – 21, with speech and language impairments, learning disabilities, intellectual disabilities, health impairments, and Autism Spectrum Disorders. The classrooms are structured to serve students with a range of academic and cognitive abilities, including, in some cases, those who have the potential to obtain a high school diploma. Ivymount Outreach Programs serve students, teachers, and parents to support children with learning and developmental challenges in the community through assessments, evaluations, therapies and professional development. The Maddux School is preschool-2nd grade program that combines creative approaches with traditional early childhood education in a unique transdisciplinary model. The goal in all of the programs is to help children and young adults achieve their highest level of development and independence and to live with dignity and self-respect. Ivymount School has been twice recognized as a Blue Ribbon School of Excellence by the U.S. Department of Education. Founded in 1961, Ivymount is celebrating its 60th year!
