Content Associate Teachers are responsible for development, implementation, monitoring, and reporting related to designated content area curricula under the supervision of Content Teacher/Program Supervisor/Program Coordinator. English/Language Arts - Written Expression position available in our MLN Program for August start date.

Job Duties & Responsibilities
  • Develop, implement, and monitor content instruction and related materials to ensure alignment with course requirements, Individualized Education Plans (IEPs), and student performance
  • Supervise classroom staff's instructional planning, implementation, monitoring, and reporting related to the content area, if assigned
  • Implement classroom/individual behavior management programs
  • Participate in the IEP development process as assigned (e.g., administer assessments, write reports, attend meetings)\\
  • Report on student progress as assigned (e.g., quarterly report cards, academic checklists)
  • Communicate with parents/guardians related to content area

  • Maryland Standard Professional Certificate in Special Education or eligibility for Conditional Certificate
  • Exceptional attention to detail, strong organizational and time management skills
  • Cooperative participation within a multidisciplinary team
  • Support of program philosophy
  • Experience with parent/guardian communication
  • Computer skills related to common office tasks such as email, conducting internet searches, and using MS Office (e.g., MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Understanding of Autism Spectrum Disorder and other related disorders preferred
  • Understanding of applied behavior analysis and its application to a school setting preferred


Ivymount School and Programs provides school- and community-based services for children and young adults with special needs from throughout the Washington metropolitan area. The school program serves more than 200 students, ages 4 – 21, with speech and language impairments, learning disabilities, intellectual disabilities, health impairments, and Autism Spectrum Disorders. The classrooms are structured to serve students with a range of academic and cognitive abilities, including, in some cases, those who have the potential to obtain a high school diploma. Ivymount Outreach Programs serve students, teachers, and parents to support children with learning and developmental challenges in the community through assessments, evaluations, therapies and professional development. The Maddux School is preschool-2nd grade program that combines creative approaches with traditional early childhood education in a unique transdisciplinary model. The goal in all of the programs is to help children and young adults achieve their highest level of development and independence and to live with dignity and self-respect. Ivymount School has been twice recognized as a Blue Ribbon School of Excellence by the U.S. Department of Education. Founded in 1961, Ivymount is celebrating its 60th year!
