General Statement of Duties:
This is a 260-days (12 months) position. The minimum annual salary is $45,101.45 (Note: Salary will be prorated for the 2021/2022 school year due to employment start date after July 1, 2021).

Under the direction of the Director of Family and Community Engagement (FACE), the FERC Community Engagement Coordinator focuses on efforts of the Family and Educator Resource Center (FERC). The FERC provides information, education and support for students, family members and educators in our school. Creating and supporting opportunities for deeper connection, the FERC Coordinator is an integral member of the FACE team.

Essential Duties:
Essential duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Collaborate with Family Advocates and Community Learning Center staff
  • Update and manage the FACE resource book.
  • Maintain data for support grants funding and budget request.
  • Assist in organizing donations and give away items.
  • Schedule appointments and organize school and division wide events.
  • Greet callers and visitors, direct them to the proper source and answers questions.
  • Provide information to the community via social media and department website.
  • Participate in day, after school, and weekend family events sponsored by the department.
  • Manage the family learning series sessions and presenters.
  • Schedule appointments and organize school and division wide events.
  • Serve as a liaison with Exceptional Education (ExEd) regarding family engagement opportunities.
  • Liaison with families who have questions regarding the IEP/504 process.
  • Provide proactive and intentional connections between FACE and the ExEd Team
  • Attend SEAC and Region 1 PRC meetings
  • Supports and enhances the mobile resource center to reach families across the county.
  • Host short workshops on the bus
  • Support with calendar maintenance for the mobile resource center
  • Provide a connection to resources and services that will highlight the HCPS bridge, build, and boost approach to family and community engagement.
  • Enhance and manage the Bridge Builders academy by offering in person and virtual opportunities for stakeholders to connect; Ensure sessions are relevant and connected to the interest of varied stakeholders.
  • Identifies relevant and research-based resources for the FERC.
  • Serve as a liaison with Exceptional Education regarding family engagement opportunities.
  • Meet with families who have questions regarding the IEP/504 process.
  • Provide proactive and intentional connections between FACE and the ExEd Team
  • Attend SEAC and Region 1 PRC meetings
  • Manage and enhance the FERC lending library.
  • Maintain and strengthen the relationship with key collaborative departments in HCPS. These departments include, but are not limited to: Gifted Services; Equity, Diversity, and Opportunity, ELL; Student Support Services, and Disciplinary Review
  • Provide vision for the FERC, enhancing the virtual and distanced abilities for stakeholders to still access services and resources.
  • Collaborate with other external agencies and organizations to have a more comprehensive resource list.
  • Including quarterly or monthly updates for resources that can be shared out to families.
  • Maintain the tutoring and resource list.
  • Maintain an active contact list for HCPS families inquiring about resources.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications:
A Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Human Services, Education, or related field. Two years training or work experience.

The minimum annual salary is $45,101.45 (Note: Salary will be prorated for the 2021/2022 school year due to employment start date after July 1, 2021).

Knowledge of program planning, development, coordination, management, and implementation. Ability to work across teams and departments for a common goal. Ability to organize and lead adult education workshops. Works effectively with adult groups, guardians/families, students, staff, and community agencies. Maintains accurate records, develops educational materials and trains others. Works well independently to assume responsibility without direct or continuous supervision, including in high pressure and difficult situations. Is solution focused when identifying needs and opportunities.
