Job Description

Clinical Supervision and Professional Development:
  • Conduct structured clinical and administrative supervision of social workers and school counselors to ensure evidence-based and research-informed practice in school-based programs.
  • Familiarity and comfort with supervision across differences and the ability to work with staff at all levels to cultivate candid conversations around diversity, equity, and inclusion. Goals can be achieved through group supervision and professional development.
  • Facilitate professional development sessions that enhance clinical practice of all social workers and school counselors.
  • Provide oversight for crises related to students, families, and schools as needed.
  • Identify learning goals and facilitate direct reports increased clinical skills, management skills, and training skills.
  • Ensure all case notes, biopsychosocial, and goal plans are completed at a high quality
  • Model development and maintenance of key collaborative relationships
  • Foster independent practice for direct reports in schools as they manage relationships with multiple stakeholders in each school to achieve clinical and programmatic goals
  • Hire and on-board new school social workers and school counselors to ensure seamless support to Uncommon schools
Program Development:
  • Ensure that program development is evolving to incorporate relevant research and related interventions to increase efficacy in all three tiers of support (targeted, selective and universal supports) for student outcomes, school outcomes, and family outcomes across all Uncommon schools
  • Develop and provide consultation and training for schools and other partner organizations to increase visibility for Uncommon integrated student supports model
  • Ensure clinical records and administrative data collection are timely and accurate in all assigned schools as required by state law
  • Use data to monitor and improve program quality and make programmatic decisions
Boston Direct Practice:
  • Provide individual counseling and case management (small caseload)
  • Attend all school-based meetings (e.g. with administration, guidance counselor, teachers)
  • Collaborate with school administration and staff on needs of students, families and school community
  • Conduct parent workshops and teacher staff development sessions
  • Support students and families in crisis

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Social Work is required
  • Valid State Certification is required
  • LICSW is required
  • At least 2 years' experience supervising social workers and/or school counselors
  • Excellent clinical skills (including individual and group counseling) and comprehensive understanding of the tiered support model and related programs and interventions in school-based mental health and integrated student supports
  • Superior engagement, communication, and presentation skills with multiple stakeholders including staff, principals, the Department of Education, peer organizations, and funders
  • Outstanding collaborator and consensus builder
  • Proven track record with using data for continuous improvement
  • Evidence of self-motivation and willingness to be a team player.
  • Experience working with and in urban schools is highly preferred.
  • Belief in and alignment with Uncommon's core beliefs and educational philosophy is non-negotiable
