This position is: 5 Hours/10 Months - Pay is spread over 12 months.

Criteria for Initial Placement on the Schedule per Collective Bargaining Agreement: Experience credit for regular employees shall only be allowed for prior experience in a K-12 educational unit to the extent required by RCW 28A.400.300 as amended.

Due to the current COVID situation, all clerical testing has been suspended for KAEOP applicants. Level testing will now only be done after the initial interviews for the finalists only. This means all applicants will be screened for interviews without passing the clerical testing for the position. Once interviewed, if you are a finalist, you will required to pass the clerical test for the position you are being considered for.

Northwood Middle School is located in the northeast corner of the Kent School District in Renton, Washington. Our school motto is Learners Today...Leaders Tomorrow. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: This 10 month position is part of the KAEOP bargaining unit.

ASSIGNMENT: The purpose of this position is to perform tasks related to the upkeep of all ASB accounts. Employee will be responsible for the accuracy of invoices received, refunds requested, and collection of NSF checks.

  1. Performs complex bookkeeping tasks, usually requiring the use of KSD Budget Tracker computer software, keeping accurate student financial records of all student payments (ASB and GF), and payments for fines and transcripts for previous students. transferring necessary credits/debits to proper locations; assuring the proper and legal control of financial records; or collecting, preparing; and combining data from various funding sources (i.e. general fund, ASB, InvestED, Grants and Trusts)
  2. Coordinates, maintains, and updates ASB, InvestED Grants and Trust account records.
  3. Analyzes and reconcile general fund, ASB, InvestEd, Grants and Trust account reports generated and prepares reports as necessary to document transactions; reconciles status reports and maintains accurate records; provides reports to administrators, ASB, Athletic, and department representatives, and Account Receivable, as requested.
  4. Maintains a high degree of confidentiality with regard to all district-related matters and records.
  5. Processes a variety of forms as needed, including purchase orders, student payments, travel requests, and invoices, and ASB program related forms.
  6. Responsible for all cash handling, receipting and reporting and preparing deposits on a timely basis and in accordance with District financial rules for cash handling.
  7. Assist in preparation of annual ASB Budget, in coordination with assigned administrators, the ASB advisor and ASB officers.


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. High school diploma/GED or equivalent educational experience and three years clerical or general office experience with emphasis in bookkeeping; additional related or specialized training desirable; or any combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge, skills, and ability required to perform the work.
  2. Completion of Kent School District's clerical testing at the administrative assistant III (B) level, with a score of 70% or higher.
  3. Valid first aid and CPR cards, Automated External Defibrillator (AED) training, and knowledge of modern health care procedures required for school positions.
  4. Knowledge of KSD Budget Tracker or other computer application of comparable complexity. Knowledge of general office processes/procedures and the use of a variety of office equipment.
  5. Knowledge of standard office computer applications such as MS Word, Excel, internet e-mail, or similar programs.
  6. Must have good customer service skills and knowledge of correct grammar, spelling, and English usage.
  7. Ability to operate a personal computer and modern office machines, including copier, FAX and calculator.
  8. Ability to maintain timely, accurate, and efficient record keeping, including preparation of reports from office records.
  9. Ability to learn new operations, procedures, processes, and use of new equipment
  10. Ability to organize, set priorities, and work effectively under pressure.
  11. Ability to exercise sound independent judgment, including appropriate handling of confidential matters, in accordance with rules and regulations surrounding the ASB accounts and sales tax.
  12. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, parents, and the general public
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Records and reports are subject to audit at least two (2) times per year.
