Purpose:
Under the general supervision, design, install, and support local area and wide area networks including the installation of both networked and stand-alone computers.
Minimum Qualifications:
LEVEL I
• Must have two years' experience in a network environment; with at least one year specifically related to one of the district's network systems.
LEVEL II
- Associate's Degree in computer related field (preferred) with one-year experience in working in a network environment comprised of multiple users and equipment.
- Education may be substituted on a year-to-year basis with at least three years' direct experience in two of the district's network systems. Any valid job-related certification or training will be considered for substitution for years of experience or education requirement.
LEVEL III
- Bachelor's Degree (preferred) or Associate's Degree in Information Systems is acceptable with at least two (2) years of experience working in a network environment.
- Three (3) years of experience working in a network environment comprised of multiple users and equipment. Education may be with at least (5) years' direct experience in all of the district's network systems.
AND
- Valid NM Driver License with a clean driving record; Knowledge of computer systems, including data bases, networking and systems and educational programs; Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of school system staff;
- Must have organization and time management skills;
- Be flexible and able to prioritize tasks;
- Perform work while under pressure;
- Maintain accurate and detailed records when needed and/or required;
- Work independently with very little supervision;
- Must be willing to keep up on latest technology by attending training.
Essential Duties:
- Install and maintain network hardware, setup, test and maintain applications on file servers and stand-alone PCs
- Assist in the design and maintenance of district database.
- Monitor disk space and make appropriate recommendations.
- Ensure that latest network patches are installed and operational; create and assign passwords;
- Monitor files servers, workstations, and printers for software and hardware problems;
- Install and evaluate new software and the district's student information system;
- Oversee, install, setup and maintain the district-wide area network and wireless networks including but not limited to protocol configurations, installation, and configuration of routers, switches and troubleshooting connections;
- Setup, schedule and monitor system backup and restoration;
- Provide technical support and problem solving for schools: answer questions, act as a liaison with software manufacturers;
- Provide technical support and maintenance for the district-wide Network, Teradon system, security cameras and phone system.
- Assist with configuration of PCs for district wide use.
- Assist with questions and necessary training and support for all technology needs;
- May be required to perform other related functions as assigned by the Technology Supervisor;
- Other duties as assigned.
Physical Functions:
- Stand, sit, walk, bend, and lift up to 20 pounds on a frequent basis, may lift up to 150 pounds with the help of another employee; load and unload trucks;
- Must have foot, hand and eye coordination for operating computer equipment, sound/recording equipment, security cameras, and driving;
- Walk on even and uneven surfaces both indoors and outdoors;
- Exposed to various degrees of noise, temperatures and weather,
- Exposed to electrical cords and equipment;
Mental Functions:
- Must be able to work under pressure of deadlines, interruptions and troubleshooting problems;
- Must be able to make sound decisions and demonstrate knowledge of computer issues;
- Must be able to deal with employees, students, and the community in such a way
- to maintain their goodwill;
- Must be able to respond appropriately to supervision and accept recommendations;
- Must be able to communicate both orally and in writing.
Essential Equipment:
- Office equipment to include: phone, fax, computer, servers, laptops, tables and other devices, calculator, printer, scanner; digital and or security cameras;
- Operate various vehicles; hold a valid driver's license
