School Lane Charter School is now accepting applications for an ESL Teacher at our Elementary campus.

New teacher orientation is August 12th & 13th followed by professional development the week of August 16th. First day of school for students is August 23rd.


An SLCS teacher is responsible for planning, instruction, activities and assessments based on the SLCS curriculum. Teachers are tasked with creating an integrated instructional program that supports an inclusion-based learning approach fostering a safe environment that respects academic and cultural diversity. Additionally, teachers are expected to work together with other teaching and support professionals in a collaborative manner to provide teaching strategies and methods that address a wide range of learning styles, individual needs, interests, abilities, and maturity levels of students.

Key Accountabilities:

• Assesses students' developmental, cognitive, emotional and social needs and learning styles; provides developmentally appropriate instruction to meet those needs
• Assists with the identification of potential ESL students
• Plans and implements appropriate instructional programs to meet the needs of those students in the ESL program
• Assists ESL students with gaining an understanding of the American culture and helps the students gain an understanding and respect for other cultures
• Models appropriate grammar usage and communication skills
• Encourages and allows students to practice and utilize ESL skills acquired to create projects that connect to the curriculum and other real world scenarios
• Provides modified assignments and strategies to meet individual student needs
• Utilizes a variety of teaching strategies to enhance instruction and engage students in activities that promote the understanding of ESL
• Evaluates student performance and shares information with the classroom teacher, support teachers, and administration
• Works collaboratively with classroom teachers to develop and implement developmentally appropriate ESL instruction and activities that integrate, support and expand the SLCS curricula

Position Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Education or related field
• Appropriate Pennsylvania certification required
• Understanding and commitment to inclusive learning
• Strong researching, planning, and organizational skills
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Experience with MS Office

Applicants who do not yet have their PA teaching certificate may upload the official College Verification of Eligibility Letter, which states you have successfully completed the program and are eligible for certification in lieu of the PA teaching certification document.
