General Statement of Duties:
This vacancy is open until filled . To provide evaluation, consultation and educationally relevant therapeutic intervention.

Essential Duties:
This professional provides therapeutic education and re-education of physical development as it pertains to muscle coordination, motor, self-help, perceptual skills, play and sensory integration and includes activities such as strengthening and developmental techniques and adaptations, fine motor techniques, sensory motor strategies, adapted handwriting curriculum, assistive Technology, and activities of daily living deemed necessary for the child to be able to function as independently as possible in the school setting.

  • Assists in identifying student needs for evaluation, consultation, and/or direct service
  • Participates in the development, implementation, and evaluation of Individualized Education Programs, Section 504 Plans and Services Plans when appropriate
  • Consults with school, community, and service-related personnel in provision of services
  • Collects and analyzes data to inform as to student needs and student progress
  • Writes evaluation reports and determines educational implications of evaluation findings
  • Determines IEP objectives, frequency, type of service to be implemented, and scheduling
  • Evaluates and assesses OT treatments and makes the necessary treatment and IEP objective changes as necessary
  • Works collaboratively as part of a team
  • Makes suggestions for necessary modifications in the educational setting
  • Provides effective oral and written consultation to teachers and parents
  • Requisitions supplies and necessary equipment through the head therapist
  • Maintains all records and reports in accordance with Federal, State, and School Division regulations and policies
  • Performs other duties as assigned


Minimum Qualifications:
Successful completion of a four year accredited program in occupational therapy. Successful completion of clinical affiliations. Passing of National Registration exam and State of Virginia certification. Master's degree preferred. COTA applications will be considered.

Additional Information:

This position is open until filled. This is a part-time position 4.5 hours/day or 3 days/week

The salary is determined by candidate's degree and experience. Minimum with a bachelor's degree = $25.43 or master's degree = $26.65
