POSITION TITLE: General Manager PTHS Radio and TV

REPORTS TO: Superintendent of Schools
CATEGORY: Administration/12 Months/IMRF

FLSA: Exempt
SALARY: Regionally Competitive

Summary: Under general direction, produce and direct programs for student-run radio and television broadcasting.

Essential Functions

• Produce and direct programs for television including research, writing scripts, rehearsing, editing, and recording.
• Coordinate activities in the studio and on remote locations with supervisors, production crew, engineers, and other participants.
• Write original television script; edit and program other scripts.
• Ensure that program content complies with Proviso Township High Schools policies.
• Maintain budgetary control over program costs.
• Plan and prepare special events programming.
• Conform to safety standards as prescribed.
• Perform other tasks related to the position, as assigned.

Qualifications/Requirements: To be considered for this position, the candidate must possess the following required education, certification, skills, experience and/or qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in radio, TV, and/or film production, communication, journalism; plus, one (1) year experience in television production; or, five (5) years' experience in television production.
• Ability to work with principals, students, teachers, athletic director, the community, and other groups
• Experience managing a budget, generating and providing reports
• Effective verbal and written communication skills; ability to speak publicly to groups and media

The successful candidate for this position should also possess the following desired skills, experience and/or qualifications:

• Knowledge of television production activities and equipment.
• Ability to write and edit scripts.
• Ability to direct production of television programming.
• Ability to work under pressure.
• Ability to read and understand oral and written material.
• Ability to relate well with people.
• Ability to supervise and evaluate employees and students.
• Ability to recognize and report hazards and apply safe work methods.
• Possess physical and mental stamina commensurate with the responsibilities of the position.

• Mobility to work in a typical office setting and use standard office equipment
• Maintain emotional control under stress.
• Limited travel is required.
• Occasional prolonged and irregular hours.
• Stand, walk, crouch, and do moderate lifting up to 40 lbs.

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Proviso Township High Schools District 209 Board's policy on evaluation of personnel.
