Job Description Summary:

Candidate must possess an understanding of students who have a variety of learning needs as well as knowledge of and how to effectively instruct them. The individual must be adept with technology and must be familiar with instructional technology. The individual will demonstrate a passion for ministering to junior high students through teaching. This also includes working with and supporting teachers with specific tasks assigned to them in special education.

Role and Responsibilities:

• Consult and collaborate with assigned teachers as needed to support students requiring resource support
• Display the ability to connect Biblical Truth to students' lives
• Help develop and participate in learning plans and evaluations
• Monitor student progress weekly in all General Education classes in conjunction with Resource teachers.
• Participate in required staff meetings, events, and activities
• Adhere to Valley Christian policies, procedures/processes, and codes
• Performs other related assigned duties

Education, Qualifications, and Experience:

• Must be a Christian with a consistent testimony among his/her family, peers, and students
• Must have experience working with students to include those with various needs
• Prior experience working in special education or related classroom preferred
• Must have and maintain a valid level one IVP fingerprint card
• Must have excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
• Ability to communicate effectively both written and verbally
• Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
• Ability to multi-task with organization
• Ability to exercise initiative and sound judgment and to react with discretion under varying conditions

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to work a flexible schedule including weekends and evenings
• Must be able to work during prolong periods of standing and sitting
• Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times

Compensation:

Salary range is $14.00 - 16.00 per hour and is commensurate with education and experience. Employee medical, dental and vision plans, 401K, and additional benefits are included with the position.
