Summary
Our core product is a web-based, enterprise school management application, used by mentors and leaders within schools and across the school system. The application consolidates essential student data into a modern web interface, surfacing key indicators related to student progress. It highlights critical areas where attention is needed on the student level, and contextualizes that information across a school or network of schools.
The role
Our collocated, New York City-based office is expanding our Product team. We are looking for a talented Product Manager who will work closely with a passionate, welcoming group of engineers, designers, data scientists, and senior stakeholders, who can bring the cross-functional effort together from start to finish.
This is an exciting opportunity to have an impact on a mission-driven organization, founded in equity, with ambitious goals to influence a long-established industry. In this role, you will join the product team in evangelizing product-driven best practices across the organization and be a key player in solving complex problems for a scaling enterprise application.

- You have excellent communication skills, and can crystallize insights into stakeholder needs that the stakeholders themselves may not be able to articulate.
- You are passionate about building innovative, mission-based products, with a strong aptitude for bigger-picture strategy.
- You have strong analytical skills and the ability to lead solution discovery for nuanced workflows.
- You are creative and inquisitive, willing to ask challenging questions and facilitate conversations.
- You are a persistent and tenacious leader, and can make things happen despite challenges and roadblocks.
- You are excited about public service and the prospect of solving problems that are challenging and affect urban schools everywhere.
- Own the product strategy for a core vertical of the product suite, and align senior stakeholders towards that vision.
- Evangelize a product-driven process across a long-established organization that is undergoing a digital transformation.
- Conduct deep user research to surface and distill complex user needs and lead the prioritization and solution discovery in response to those needs.
- Manage competing priorities with consistency and transparency, collaborating with teams throughout the organization, to ensure feature adoption and success.
- Manage the entire software development life cycle, working iteratively with design and engineering teams, in an agile environment.
- 3+ years of experience in product management at technology driven organizations with enterprise products.
- Experience working with senior stakeholders in a product owner capacity.
- Ability to articulate complex problems to audiences with varied technical backgrounds.
- Agile product management experience, including deep knowledge in one or more methodologies (particularly SCRUM or Kanban).
- Familiarity and comfort with applications that process large amounts of data.
- Great Product Managers can come from a variety of backgrounds, and New Visions is open-minded to relevant experience and education.
What are things that we would need from this person, but can be trained on in the 1st 3 months?
- Experience with product metrics and KPIs, using various quantitative and qualitative ways to unearth product opportunities and validate ideas.
- Knowledge of multiple Agile methodologies, including SCRUM and Kanban
- Experience using tools to manage software delivery, roadmapping, whiteboarding, and data analytics (Jira, Product Board, Miro, Airtable, Sheets, Google Analytics, Kibana, etc.).
- Experience presenting in front of large audiences.
- Knowledge of NYC public school system and educator pain points and needs.
