    Training (7 Hours): June 7th - 9th (3:00pm - 5:00pm) & 1 hour of asynchronous prep

    Receives administrative direction from the STEM Camp Coordinator or other administrative officials of a higher grade

    PART I - SUMMARY OF CLASSIFICATION

    This class is accountable for facilitating learning, academic achievement, social-emotional learning, and personal development by providing instruction to students in an in-person setting. This class also develops and implements curriculum and lesson plans, utilizes technology to facilitate learning, and demonstrates an understanding of the varying learning styles and the needs of a diverse student population.

    PART II - MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

    A. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

    General Experience:
  • Possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college.

  • B. CREDENTIALS:
  • Google Certified Educator Level 1 preferred

  • C. LICENSURES, CERTIFICATIONS, AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
  • Employment in this class is conditional upon the possession of a valid Connecticut State Board of Education teaching certificate/endorsement(s) appropriate to the teaching assignment. Should hold a MS/HS science endorsement, MS/HS math endorsement, Tech Ed endorsement, or any other certification with a strong background in IT/coding.
  • Applicants must be available to work all eight (8) days of in-person STEM Camp
  • Applicants must be available to engage in six (6) hours of paid virtual/collaborative training from 3-5 on June 7th - 9th and 1 hour of asynchronous prep.
  • Incumbents in this class may be required to possess and retain a current Motor Vehicle operator's license.
  • A reference check may be conducted with the applicant's direct supervisor.

  • D. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • Knowledge of effective instructional strategies
  • Excellent technology skills
  • Extensive knowledge in middle school science/IT programs
  • Knowledge and expertise in differentiated instruction, Next Generation Science Standards and design thinking
  • Knowledge of social-emotional learning support strategies
  • Knowledge of the GSuite applications in Google and how they are used to support teaching and learning, including, but not limited to: Google Classroom, Google Meet, Google Forms, Google Drive, Google Slides, Google Groups, Google Calendar and Gmail;
  • Knowledge of Google extensions that create a more efficient workflow and that enhance teaching and learning.
  • Knowledge of Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) and Scientific Research-Based Interventions (SRBI)

  • PART III - POSITION SUPERVISES:
  • May direct the work of paraprofessionals and other non-certified support staff.

  • PART IV - ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Provide an emotionally safe learning environment
  • Conduct daily lessons designed to meet the individual needs of students
  • Provide one to one feedback for students in their synchronous lessons
  • Implement curriculum for science/IT
  • Use assessment tools to design small group instruction and prepare students for the culminating goIT competition/STEM showcase at the end of the program
  • Provide differentiated instruction based on identified student needs
  • Maintain classroom attendance
  • May be asked to model lessons for colleagues
  • Willingness to learn and use new technologies and Google extensions
  • Complete other tasks assigned by the STEM camp administrator

  • PART V - Working Conditions, Physical and Mental Requirements

    Employees appointed to this position will be supplied with instructional technology and curriculum materials. Working remotely is not permitted. Employees appointed to positions in this class must have adequate physical strength, stamina, physical agility, and visual and auditory acuity and must maintain such physical fitness as to be able to perform the duties of the class. A physical examination may be required.
