The instructional coach provides job-embedded and ongoing professional reflection and learning for teachers to enhance their content knowledge and instructional strategies. The coach provides support to principals and teachers to analyze student work and data and plan formative professional development. The effective coach is seen as an equal partner with both novice and experienced teachers, spending the majority of the time working in classrooms (i.e. modeling, observing, co-teaching, debriefing). Coaches will review, revise, and update pacing guides and assist teachers in the development and use of common assessments. Overall, the job of Instructional Coach is to build the capacity of school staffs to meet the learning needs of all students through the professional learning community model. Qualifications/Education/Experience: A minimum of five years of exemplary teaching experience at the early childhood level. Experience working with a diverse population including children with disabilities, students with limited English proficiency and students who live in poverty. Knowledge of research-based and differentiated literacy strategies. Knowledge of effective instructional delivery techniques, research-based best practices, and adult learning theory, class knowledge, training, and certification is preferred. Excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to work in a collaborative-shared leadership environment. Emotionally mature, objective and sensitive to people and their concerns. Able to handle responsibility, work independently and maintain collaborative working relationships with administration and co-workers. Certifications, Licenses, Registrations: Valid Virginia Teaching License with Early Childhood endorsement Master's Degree preferred Salary: Range based on the 2021-2022 Teacher Salary Scale is $45,500 - $75,191 per year with additional stipend for degree and pay for 10 extra days. Workday: Full time / 10 month/ 210 Day Contract/ Monday through Friday Location: John Kerr Elementary School
