Specific:
High school diploma or equivalent supplemented by training or course work in child growth and development or closely related areas. Must complete Infant Care Aide assessment. Current First Aid/CPR certificates must be submitted with application. The typical qualifying entrance background is formal or informal training and experience in infant and child care or completion of college level coursework in child development; or experience or training in the Salinas Union High School District in which the incumbent has acquired the knowledge and abilities listed in the job description. Under general supervision, care for newborns, infants and young children; assist in the implementation of the child care program. Care for and insure the health and safety of young children by feeding, bathing, washing, diapering, clothing, playing, holding, rocking, reciting poems, reading, singing and talking to infants. Supervise toilet training. Keep rooms, furniture, floors, toys, clothing and play areas in clean, orderly, safe and sanitary condition. Change crib linens and fold laundry. Serve food to children, including breakfast, formula, lunch and snack. Ability may be required: Bilingual in English and a designated second language.
