Job Details
The EIR (Education Innovation and Research) Computer Science Integration & Equity Coach's primary responsibility is contributing to a high-quality teacher development, and support process for two elementary schools with high-need students. The goal is to improve teacher knowledge, family engagement, community partnerships, and instructional strategies to implement computer science and STEM across the curriculum and engage traditionally underrepresented students.
Essential Functions and Tasks:
- Guide the Core Team in the development of CS curriculum linked to STEM coursework and problem-based learning.
- Support in establishing family engagement, providing regular family information nights, and creating documentation to communicate CS integration to stakeholders.
- Provide guidance and input in developing culturally diverse integrated curriculum, assessments, resources, and experiences.
- Establishing and fostering partnerships with community and industry partners.
- Assist with computer science integration through a focus on traditionally underrepresented students, STEM, and personalized learning.
- Support professional learning communities (PLCs) in the implementation of computer science units, pacing guides, and instructional sequences for each grade level.
- Assist with the alignment of results from performance-based assessments with computer science units.
- Aid teachers in the annual Innovation Showcase to share best practices across the district to expand knowledge within and beyond target schools.
- Collaborate with the EIR Project Special to assess training needs and topics for professional development.
- Serve on the EIR Advisory Council with the Project Director, principals, and partners to review implementation data, determine if adjustments are needed, and make recommendations to each school.
- Participate in school-level teams to bring feedback from teachers and pinpoint areas of improvement to ensure enhancements in operations at each school.
- Act in a professional and ethical manner at all times.
- Comply with district policies, procedures, and programs.
Education and Experience:
- Master's degree from an accredited institution of higher education preferred.
- Four years relevant experience in an educational position focused on computer science, STEM, and problem-based learning.
- Must hold valid teaching and/or administrative credential for the State of Virginia.
- Experience in teacher development and coaching and development of curricula units, instructional sequences, and performance-based assessments.
- Experience in culturally responsive teaching and equity training.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all stakeholders.
Salary:
Range based on the 2021-2022 Teacher Salary Scale is $45,500 - $75,191 with additional stipend for advanced degree.
Workday:
Full time /200 + 10 extra days contract
