  • Coordinator of Mission and Ministry

    Marist High School is seeking a Coordinator of Mission and Ministry. This is a 11-month, full-time salaried position with full benefits.

    The Coordinator of Mission and Ministry needs to be a person who models care and compassion for all - students, parents, faculty, and staff members. The minimum qualifications are required:
    • Commitment to the Marist Brothers' principles as set forth in Marist's mission statement;
    • Prior experience in youth ministry or campus ministry in a secondary school;
    • Academic background in Religious Studies preferred;
    • Commitment to the Marist charism - the Marist way of being Christian;
    • Effective communication skills both in the verbal and written form;
    • Willingness to be an important part of developing a vibrant faith community;
    • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain strong interpersonal relationships with students, faculty, staff, parents, and the external community;
    • Proven ability to exercise initiative and judgment in coordination of programs;
    • Willing to identify and assume new responsibilities in line with an evolving mission and ministry

    The Coordinator of Mission and Ministry reports to the Principal and the President and works closely with the administrative team. The position start date is July 1, 2021.

    Essential Responsibilities
    • Collaborates with the Principal and the President in ways that measurably enhance our understanding and support of Marist's distinctive Catholic identity through the tradition of the Marist Brothers;
    • Oversees Campus Ministers in their roles and embodies with them, a model of team ministry;
    • Provides strategic leadership, resources and expertise in the areas of mission and ministry;
    • Offers, in conjunction with the ministry team, programs and initiatives in the areas of sacramental worship, retreats, social justice, service immersion programs and an active ministry presence in all areas of school life;
    • Works in collaboration with the Curriculum Coordinator of the Religious Studies Department on matters of liturgy, prayer, masses and other sacramental opportunities for students;
    • Oversees the development of freshman, sophomore and junior retreats, and the Kairos retreat program for seniors;
    • Oversees the development of a cohesive mission driven service program which includes mission trips, service programs, and other initiatives through the Office of Marist Life and Mission which includes LaValla Days, Marist National Day of Service, and Champagnat Day
    • Collaborates with the Office of Marist Life and Mission by attending Sharing our Mission, promoting Sharing our Call I and II to faculty members;
    • Provides pastoral support as requested by students, faculty and staff; collaborates with Counseling and other departments regarding specific pastoral needs/concerns of students;
    • Oversees an effective retreat program for faculty and staff that contributes to community building, faith development, evangelization and leadership enrichment;
    • Assists with planning of Catholic Schools Week in collaboration with Director of Student Services and Student Activities Director;
    • Maintains a close relationship with pastors and youth leaders in neighboring parishes;
    • Is a liaison to the Archdiocese of Chicago;
    • Contributes to the spiritual values and activities of the school. This includes the promotion of the Marist Mission of the school;
    • Coordinates the use of the Marist chapel;
    • Organizes training for liturgical ministers, extraordinary ministers of the Eucharist, lectors, servers and all other students involved in liturgical celebrations;
    • Provides opportunities for students, faculty and staff to celebrate the Sacraments, especially Communion services and Reconciliation services;
    • Promotes and performs other duties as assigned.;
