    Marist High School is seeking a Director of Teaching & Learning. This is a 12-month, full-time salaried administrative staff position with full benefits.

    The Director of Teaching & Learning needs to be a person who models care and compassion for all - students, parents, faculty, and staff members. The minimum qualifications are required:
    • Commitment to the Marist Brothers' principles as set forth in Marist's mission statement;
    • Prior administrative and/or leadership experience in a secondary school;
    • Master's Degree in education-related field necessary;
    • Effective communication skills both in the verbal and written form;
    • Willingness to be an important part of developing a vision for the school;
    • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain strong interpersonal relationships with students, faculty, staff, parents, and the external community;
    • Demonstrated ability to engage others in difficult conversations and manage conflict;
    • Proven ability to exercise initiative and judgment in coordination of programs;
    • Willing to identify and assume new responsibilities in line with an evolving culture

    The Director of Teaching & Learning reports to the Principal and works closely with the Academic Deans, the Deans of Discipline, the Director of Student Services, the Director of Technology, the Curriculum Coordinators and the Faculty and Staff. The position start date is July 1, 2021.

    Essential Responsibilities
    • Is a full-time member of the administrative team;
    • Supervises the Curriculum Coordinators, Student Database Manager, Marcellin Program Director and Learning Specialists;
    • Coordinates the Master Schedule process in conjunction with the Curriculum Coordinators, Student Database Manager, Academic Deans and School Counselors;
    • Responsible for the development of the Academic Course Catalog, including development of new course proposals in collaboration with the Curriculum Coordinators;
    • Creates the school's booklist with the assistance of the Curriculum Coordinators; assists CCs in selecting textbooks for courses;
    • Coordinates the hiring process for the academic departments with the Curriculum Coordinators including posting jobs on Frontline, interviewing candidates and hiring;
    • Responsible for the Marist Evaluation Model (MEM) implementation for faculty evaluations;
    • Coordinates the school's Professional Development Program by identifying and/or providing professional development opportunities for faculty;
    • Fosters a culture of collaborative and creative leadership with the Curriculum Coordinators that will enable them to lead and empower the faculty in the continuous improvement of student learning;
    • Designs and established appropriate structures, protocols, procedures, meetings, agendas and timelines for the work of the Curriculum Coordinators;
    • Develop and maintain a student-centered vision for curriculum and instruction aligned with the school's vision and mission;
    • Lead academic improvement initiatives with the Curriculum Coordinators ensuring that the school's overall academic goals are promoted and integrated within and across departments;
    • Provide collective and individual support as well as helpful resources and materials so that each Curriculum Coordinator is able to carry out his/her role confidently, efficiently and effectively;
    • Coordinates the articulation, implementation, evaluation and documentation of each department's curriculum; conducts audits and maintains curriculum documents;
    • Trains team leaders and helps teams to operate as professional learning communities (PLCs) to focus on continuously taking student learning to the next level of excellence;
    • Collects and analyzes data on instruction trends, departmental trends, areas of strength, and areas for growth and improvement gathered from walk-throughs, common course assessments, standardized test data, classroom drop-ins and formal observations to:
      • Identify goals
      • Evaluate curriculum and instructional effectiveness
      • Promote professional learning
    • Maintains a current knowledge of best practices, curricular trends and research to continuously take student learning to the next level of excellence;
    • Provides formative and summative feedback to the Curriculum Coordinators on their effectiveness;
    • Networks with other Directors (Technology, Student Services, Marcellin Program, Admissions, etc.) regarding curricular and instructional needs and issues;
    • Responsible for coordinating student teachers, field trips and guest speakers;
    • Adheres to a professional code of ethics;
    • Builds extended networks to promote relationships with local organizations that can support the needs of our students and our community.
    • Contributes to the spiritual values and activities of the school. This includes the promotion of the Marist Mission of the school.
    • Promotes and performs other duties as assigned.
