This position includes facilitation of the Opportunity Culture model at East Ridge High School. The Multi-Classroom Leader teaches half-time and coaches half-time across a team while assuming responsibility for training a teacher resident.


  1. Teaching & Learning - Deeply understand the Tennessee English Language Arts Standards and establish clear learning targets for every lesson. Build rigorous and aligned assessments and consistently implement high leverage literacy practices. Follow Hamilton County Schools' instructional framework, including:

    • Responsive Teaching and Learning
  2. Classroom Culture: Build a safe and productive classroom culture. Positive relationships are evident, procedures are clear, and the classroom is safe and secure for learning to unfold. Student and teacher interactions promote a growth mindset.
  3. Family & Community: Consistently develop strong relationships with students' families while diligently informing parents of expectations, positive news, and/or concerns about their children. Provide opportunities for parents to be involved in their children's learning.
  4. Professional Responsibilities: Actively participates in professional learning communities (PLCs) with colleagues in order to improve teaching and student learning. Reflect on instruction and leadership while contributing ideas, expertise, and time to the mission and goals of the school.

  • Teaching candidate must hold a valid state of Tennessee teaching certification in 6-12 English or be an upcoming graduate in an accredited teacher preparation program. If you hold a teaching license in another state, you must apply for a Tennessee teaching license.
  • Candidates must hold a bachelor's degree.

Below are the requirements for the Multi-Classroom Leader:
  • Proven track record of effective teaching for a minimum of three years (both with Project Coach scores and with TN Ready scores)
  • Exhibits a growth mindset and is a life-long learner as evidenced by participation in on-going Professional Development opportunities
  • Must have an open door policy
  • Self-awareness of one's own teaching practice and the ability to be transparent about the purpose and use of effective teaching practices
  • Attend monthly seminars
  • Up to 3 days of summer work
  • Two hours per week in addition to regular planning time (either before or after school) with resident for purposes of planning and reflecting
  • Desire to be coached for continual improvement in one's own practice
  • Belief in and consistent use of Hamilton County's instructional framework
