Duties:
The Junior Custodian reports to the Senior Building Custodian, and is responsible for performing the following duties: cleaning and sanitary maintenance of the building; care and maintenance of the school grounds and perform related work as required.

Example of duties includes, but is not limited to the following:

• Sweeping, dusting, mopping, scrubbing, waxing, and polishing; making minor repairs and adjustments;
• Cleaning and care of floors(wood, concrete , vinyl tile), walls (plaster, wood, cinder block), windows, light fixtures, toilets, washbowls, furniture equipment such as vacuums, carpet extractors, burnishes, floor washing machines, etc.
• Replacing light bulbs and ceiling tiles using lasdders, lifts and scaffolds.
• Care and maintenance of school grounds including litter pickup and removal, sweeping of walks, removal of snow and ice, raking, mowing, and watering grass where designated, requiring the use of hand and power lawn mowers, rakes snow blowers, shovels.
• Inspecting the school building(s) to determine the necessity for maintenance work and submitting work orders;
• Checking deliveries of fuel;
• Displaying the flag of the United States according to custom;
• Eliminating fire hazards and preventing accidents.

The Junior Custodian is responsible for maintaining a high level of cleanliness and sanitation as directed by the Senior Custodian and in accordance with school and district wide cleaning standards. The work shift is determined by the vacant position.

*Please note that this position will be filled on an as-needed basis with the potential for multiple positions to become available throughout the year. This job will be a 6 month assignment with the possibility of becoming a permanent position.

Minimum Requirements :
High School diploma or G.E.D. preferred; previous custodial experience, attention to detail; must be reliable and courteous.
